2017 PSLE Discussions and Strategies

Hi my_little_rainbow
I have signed up for my DD to attend Adam Khoo Seminar also heard that it quite good. -
The workload this year is a little heavier, but more than that my son is definitely feeling stress from school and teachers. To me its a balancing game - encourage him to work and try his best to not make those careless mistakes without making him feel I’m expecting perfection from him; give him space to do the work and make the mistakes on his own, bu keep an eye on things so that I know where he stands and can intervene if required before things spiral out of control; let him continue to do his sports and music and reading while trying to manage it so he can get enough sleep.
So we’ve made some compromises: he’s still continuing with music lessons but I’m ready to skip the exams this year. I sit down with him daily (as much as I’m able to be home) to hear his short / mid / long dated homework and help him plan the afternoon, then leave him to work on his own. And as regularly as possible, I institute compulsory time off where he’s ordered to go listen to soundhound and read a book or play chess or something not school related. Another 5.5 months before the exams are over and we can all vegetate for a few months. Can’t wait! -
Was waiting for the school bus together with DS this morning. He told me he has no supp class today so he will be home early. Then told me he will do some math SA2 papers this afternoon. After thinking awhile, he said maybe he should do more practises in unit transfer method. He said he was taught that in school but he still cannot quite grasp it.
Told him to google that, there should be some videos available, explaining the basics of how to apply that method. If still cannot quite grasp it, no sweat, can still use the method that he is most confident with. -
Hi parents,
Sa1 is round the corner. If your children are not using DSA, take the exam as a revision. Don’t get burnt out.
The weather is unpredictable…very hot and humid and pouring heavily suddenly.
Take care. -
With time being constraint,Would like to get idea which top school papers are challenging for each subjects, so can make kid do that paper instead of doing easy papers.

Each has his own preference but for English, you may try girl schools' papers like MGS and SCGS.With time being constraint,Would like to get idea which top school papers are challenging for each subjects, so can make kid do that paper instead of doing easy papers.

Maths, try Cath High.
Sometimes my daughter finds St Nic paper challenging. Nanyang also can try.
For Science, don't have extremely difficult or extremely easy school papers, more or less about there. Main thing is to seek exposure to different types of questions.
For those with P5 kids, you may want to try 2016 SCGS maths SA2 paper. Not many scored above 90 for that paper. -
I urgently require to send my DS for Science Tution. Anyone can provide me feedback about Science Heuristic at Balmoral Plaza? Need advise on this. Thanks in advance.

Jiang Education Centre posted their June holiday PSLE EL course outline on their Facebook page, but their CL one seems to be absent… This is a rough summary of what I saw at their branch. 华文口试 I suppose… Do check with them directly if you require more details.
