Great! So glad my post has drawn vocal folks from one of the merged JCs out from their dens!

What are you waiting for? Rally your alumni, past and present Ps and VPs, Exec Advisory Committee and BOD, parents, current students to start a petition and fight for IJC's brand to be retained.

Why should I apologise? I'm offering you guys a suggestion, which is to fight for your alma mater.
So this is how an EJC parent behaves? I am speechless.

Your kid is suffering in the old RJC campus and you are feeling very sore and also worried that the 'ivory tower', as someone put it, may disappear from EJC too? EJC parents don't have the means to provide their kids with nice environment so die die must rely on school campus to give them that small piece of luxury is it? Pathetic yah?
You guys still didn't get SJI (Independent) holding premises after all the dogfights, did you? Why suggest the same ineffective formula to us? You better look elsewhere for new inspirations.

There's a much easier way to fight for our rights. We are taking the calm and patient path. 😉

      Still owe us an apology....

Oh yes Jetsetter, our private pool in the backyard hasn’t been touched for months. DS in NS, you see. If you apologise, I will consider inviting your kid and her EJC friends over for some enjoyment. Someone lamented that EJC don’t even have a pool like RI’s.

You should post that in EJC thread. It's not my alma mater (edited)

No apology from me. Only heartfelt sympathies for you guys... 😄

Take a leaf from the very brave OVA? :salute:

That's too bad. RIJC has one, I know 😉

Jetty , your kids in EJC? This is so hilarious :rotflmao:

This reminds me of the 9pm drama now showing on Ch 8 where the wife (Paige) kept insisting that the husband (Thomas Ong) say \"sorry\" for the most inconsequential stuff.

how come many years ago, when VJC started the IP program : why did Victoria Boys Secondary choose Cedar Girls as their IP strategic-alliance partner ?

why didn't choose Crescent Girls, nor SCGS Girls Secondary, as partner, back then ?
(these two Girls' schools : no religion attached)

                1. There is no such thing as Victoria Boys Secondary. It's Victoria School. Otherwise, you can also call RI - Raffles Seconday or Raffles Boys School.

                2. If you are keen to know the history of the Victoria-Cedar Alliance, you can http://www.ova.org.sg/2014/09/victoria-cedar-alliance/. It's about compatibility (and basically, Victorians just prefer to work with Cedarians).

At their old campus, they all share the same bus stop to take bus home......:)

VS boys always have a thing for the Cedarians due to proximity......

                  Of course not.
                  You watch Ch 8?!

She can demand till cows come home, or till her private pool at her backyard dries up.

i cannot quiz about their inertia and radio silence meh?

If my alma mater is merged or shut down, I will certainly jump and write in to Minister to protest.

i remember a small mall in Potong Pasir marketed itself as St Andrew's Mall. SASA immediately protested and demanded the developer to re-register a name.

That's the diff between proactive and passive alumni. I doubt after griping here and there, they will engage MOE. You need absolute unity for this sort of thing.

This one not quite the same lah... The IP was still at the proposal stage. Hence, OVA still got chance to raise voice and make noise. Besides, VJC proposal was really stupid to begin with.

On the other hand, the merger is signed, stamped, endorsed and confirmed. Scope for negotiation is limited. If not them, another JC will get the axe. Better choose those JCs (Gov) that are easy meat compared to those with strong stakeholders (Gov aided).

Moral of the story: choose a school with strong backing or powerful stakeholders (gov aided) for your kids if these are the concerns.

actually is it very wrong to suggest EJC to occupy the IJC current campus? Save cost mah…IJC is very new and huge and nice too…
