Hi can any experience members help me?
I’m grassroots leader in GRC A for many years already but I’m not in RC/NC or MC. Now that I need to think of my kid’s school we are going to move to GRC B. i filled in the volunteer form in GRC B and they told me I have to start from observer. Is that true?
I’m feeling stress because I understand I have to be a member by June this year otherwise I can’t register my Son in 2 years time.
Does anyone has any advise for me? Thanks a lot! -

Have you written to your MP in GRC A to check and seek assistance? He/she should be able to help to clarify or write a letter to GRC B?

I am not sure if my MP is able to help me because recently my MP changed as my community centre as merge with another community center. really at my wits end...

For one to be classified as active community leader, you must be in RC/NC, CCC or CCMC, members in other sub-committees are not counted.
In your case, if you have not any of the above, you do need to start fresh as observer if you apply join a RC. Hope this helps. -
Thanks for your reply. Do you know of anyway to go around this? I’m serving in the sub committee for many years. It’s a pity I have to "restart".

I think you dont necessarily have to volunteer in the GRC where you stay - you may want to check it out whether you can volunteer in the GRC where your school of choice is located. Btw, I heard of somebody who volunteered in a GRC hoping to get into the school of her choice then before the P1 registration commenced, the govt redrew the GRC map in preparation for the coming elections and she found that her school of choice no longer fall within the GRC she volunteered with
don't spread fear leh.....
i am certainly that you heard wrongly.
according to PA memo last year (2016)
the zoning of schools within GRC was still following the pre-2015 electoral boundary....
and this was done intentionally --- as the GRL would have served 2 years in pre-2015 boundary... which IMO is logical.
this year,
it will be post-2015

Sorry, personally, I don't see a way around this, as per info below taken from MOE website, you need to fulfill the criteria to qualify. Maybe you can check with your CD on this.

How do I qualify as an active community leader for registration at Phase 2B?
Current serving committee members of the Residents' Committee (RC), Neighbourhood Committee (NC), Citizen's Consultative Committee (CCC), Community Club Management Committee (CCMC) and the Community Development Council (CDC) are eligible to register their children under Phase 2B. Please approach your Constituency Office for more information. -
which sch in which zone per PA, is out today.
Check with your CM.
For this year, since it is the first time that the zoning will be based on the post 2015-electoral boundary, be prepared to see a major difference from last year’s list.

Dear everyone, I am new here. I am sorry if this has been asked before, so pls kindly bear with me.

My son will be starting P1 in 2020, so I am considering doing grassroots work to increase chance of getting my son into our desired school.
When should I start getting involved in grassroots activities if my son is starting in 2020? I know some may say asap, but just want to know when’s the latest latest date. Thanks!
