All About Home Addresses

If they differ, the husband's address first.starduzz:
Hi,
When registering for P1 under Phase 2C, does the school look at both parents' address in NRIC or just one of the parent to determine the distance?
Reason being, my address registered in NRIC is within 1 km but my wife's registered address is still with her mother's home address which is more than 2km.
Floppy,
Starduzz will hv to drink kopi when investigated.
️Hope he don't spill yr name as advisor to use \"husband's address first\". Encourage the couple to keep close together leh - in spirit & in soul.
Starduzz,
1. Same understanding as ChiefKiasu. Don't run foul of the law. They can be very unforgiving. Addresses need to be updated within 30 days of residential change base on Statutory Law. Quickly change yr wife's address at the police post. Hope it's a young, blur chap who'll not spot the 6-years lapse.
2. Spouse must show same address when registering kids for P1, unless valid reasons (in process of divorce, etc).
During DS P1 registration, there were 64 vacancies under 2b but 65 applications. We were anxiously waiting for school to call for balloting & 'nervous' that DS will be the 65th waiting to be kicked out of queue. No calls came. A year later during a chance chat with Principal, she revealed coz one set of parents found to to hv diff addresses & asked to w/draw application.
I was also informed ano set of parents were told to withdraw in a previous year, as the pastor (heard a very strict one) had uncovered parents' address registered for church membership was different from P1 application in the same year letter of church affiliation was issued to couple. They were counseled to w/draw unless they showed prove of residing at new residence presented for P1 registration.
3. If you're not residing in an address, do not attempt to use it as there will be letters sent to it to request for supportive documents, confirm registration, invitation to orientation, etc.
We learnt the extent parents go to to secure perceived \"ideal\" schools for their children. Ensure all documents are in order & tie in logistics with family life to avoid/reduce unnecessary stresses.
All the best to this year's P1 registration. -
Hi, wanted to check whether we can use the address of owned property currently rented out but planning to move in before child starts P1. Think can - if we sign the undertaking that we will move in before P1 starts?! Just wondering whether anybody has done this before and what all documents would be needed.
-
Please write to the school or MOE to check with them what level of legalization is needed on the your proposed letter of undertaking. I have never seen anyone in KSP forum done this method before, but I may be wrong.
There is also the danger of your tenant using the same address to register their child, even if he has a signed agreement not to. I believe there was a case of one father had to do jail time because MOE database detected 2 registrations from different families with the same address.
As far as I know, the school needs to key in your IC address during registration. The tried & tested way is to move in physically before registration. At least the utilities bill must be in your name & use this to go down to police station to change your IC address the month before registration phase 1 starts. Usually end June each year I think. -

I believe you have to move in before the registration starts so that your NRIC will bear your address. If the property is rented out, it means you can't legally update your NRIC as you're not staying there yet, so I think you won't be able to use that address to register. To be safe, just end the tenancy early. -
Hi when it is a good time to shift house? One year before register?

Hi when it is a good time to shift house? One year before register?
Just to share my case:
Once we decided to rent an apartment to stay near the primary school we hope to get in, our preparation actually started a year before P1 registration.
We went from recee to many different viewings, shortlisting a few units, negotiation on price and furnishing, signing of agreement, packing, moving and changing of address. All these take longer time than expected.
So, better play safe. Prepare for your shift early. -

I also prepared about a year in advance and managed to change my address about 6 months before registration date.MumOfClara:

Dear parents, can ask whether we still can change home address now (e.g. before 25 Jul) to register for this year’s Phase 2C? As we are still considering whether to rent a place for 30 months for kids’ school… Thanks

Cannot. See the FAQ on MOE website. It says very clearly \"at least 30 months from the commencement of the P1 Registration Exercise on 29 June 2017\". -

Hmmm. The date part seems like a new addition to the clause. Previously I think it's not stated. Can anyone confirm?gpliu3:
