Hi CatMoon,My boy is in Sec 3 SMTP this year and I understand that there is a science research trip to Virginia, US, later this year. Does any HCI parent / past student know about this trip? What is the purpose of the trip and are there criteria to qualify before applying?
Thanks so much!
Is your DS going for it? Mine (also SMTP) doesn't seem interested. It seems too early to go for such prog. I wonder if there will b similar opportunity in Sec 4. -
Does anyone have any maths tutor recommendation in the east? DS who is in year 2 did badly for his maths paper recently and so we had to scramble to find a tutor for him. Appreciate advice. Thanks

Hi, I don't have a tutor to recommend but based on experience, I feel that it is better to fall back on the Singhlee Math textbook to strengthen his foundation. Jun holiday is a good time to do so. The teacher tend to go v fast so boys need to brush up their foundation on their own. Hope this helps. -

Hi wanxuan75,
I don't know any tutors in the east but my boy goes to Indigo tuition centre at Goldhill Square. It's at Novena so it's quite near HCI (via mrt). They teach IP Math and follow the HCI syllabus quite closely. Some of the tutors there were from HCI. Perhaps you can check them out. -

My boy is interested in this Virginia trip cos he didn't want to go for the China trip! :rotflmao:
But I had to sign the China trip form last Friday cos his FT said it's a must.
My boy said it's quite difficult to qualify for the Virginia trip. -
Haha, my DS doesn't want to go to both
but China immersion is compulsory so still need to go next year if miss this one & he's not interested in research. Maybe I'm wrong but there may not be so many 'competitors' for the oversea research trips. All the best to yr DS :)) ! -
