Couldn't find a thread on this, but thought it's worthy of discussion.

I'm all for this! I simply cannot think of one negative about this idea - when will the other schools follow suit?
NJC starts school at 8.30am on Tuesdays, 8.40am on Thursdays, and 7.40am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Love the late-start days.

DS was so jealous when he read about this. I told him to write an email to his Principal if he is for it šŸ˜†

It is a pain when my ds starts school at 7:25am and dd at 8:15am, we still need to go early! 😢

But I do see a difference on Friday when my ds starts at 8am. Both my kids are more chatty and their mood are so much better when it is daylight when we leave the house.

I think if ALL school starts around 8am, traffic will be a big problem as it coincides with the working hours. School bus might also be an issue as it is now as staggered as I am aware; the school buses fetch the kids first followed by the working crowd.

I think the feel-good effect will probably wear off if every day begins at 8+. Bedtimes and waking up times will probably just shift. It feels good now in contrast to the 7.30 starts, but if every day begins later, that will become the new normal.

i think it is better to start school at 715am...if school starts later, it ends later. with single session, kids are spending LONG hours in school. if they come home at 8+ everyday, there is hardly any time to enjoy the feeling of home...it will be bathe, homework and bedtime.

So the solution is to have 2 days 7.30 and 3 days 8.00?

Haha, NJC is almost there, just need to convince them to swap T/TH 8.30/8.40 and M/W/F 7.40 to M/W/F 8.30/8.40 and T/TH 7.40 šŸ˜‰
