Comparing Science Enrichment Programs
-
Hi parents, is it normal for Science results to drop from band 1 to 2 considering that more topics are tested?
-
Can anyone recommend a good Science Tuition centre or tutor in north areas, e.g: sembawang, yishun? TIA!

Hi,
Does anyone has any recommendation for current or ex-school teacher that specialises in teaching Primary 3 Science? Preferably around Bukit Panjang area.
Thank you

Hi all,
My DD is weak with the Science open-ended questions (ie Science Paper 2). I would like to send her to an enrichment class to help her how to answer open-ended question.
I came across The Pique Lab Learning Center - http://pslescienceworkshop.com/
Did anyone try out the Science enrichment class in The Pique Lab Learning Centre ?
I would like to send my DD for the P6 Science - CCI
Course Over 3 Days @ $600.
Appreciate your advise and comment. Thanks in advance
Hi, If your child is above average, it is worth a try. Like I say, the notes are very colourful and the key points are there.
I just send my kid for CCI spread over 5 weeks. Its basically a 3 hour sessions where they crammed about 3 topics over 3 hours session, with a lot a lot of handcopying of things that the teachers wrote on the board. I personally felt copying isnt called engaging students ( thats why is 3 hours maybe), with 2 breaks in between, each break is 15 minutes.
That time the class we attended is packed with 12 to 13 students. Each time the class ended, I always see anxious parents asking their children how is the lessons and so on. I guess a lot of anxious and last minute parents sent their children there. (like myself
)
If there are better alternatives ( like find a good tutor who can follow your child long term), I guess you can try out others.
The regular classes are $280 per month. need to pay 3 months upfront. That is $840 paid in advance. It is not cheap, with 12 or 13 in a class, with teachers divided attention among 13, I wonder how much my child can absorb. Not to mention there is a 15 minutes break for the 2 hour regular class, where you can see the students flocking to mcdonalds to buy a fast meal ( That again is unproductive, i felt the break is unnecessary as students need to refocus again after the break) and serious students are disrupted by the students who came back from mcdonalds and munching away)
I am more concerned that the teachers there cannot answer my child's questions on the spot... : :slapshead:
I guess at $280 a month for Primary Level and 13 students in a class, they need to show that they are a premium tuition centre.
Or perhaps.....maybe at $180 a month, I will lower down my expectations
In any case, like what another parent say, the sales gimmicks are good. -

My boy is currently under a private tutor and is improving a lot. He's been with her for about 1 year now and his results has been improving steadily from borderline pass last year, he can score A now. She's also teaching my siblings children and they have also been improving, really glad i found her.She teaches only science and i'm not sure whether she travels out far because me and my siblings all live in bukit panjang area.
She provides her own notes, worksheets and mindmaps and sometimes even do simple science experiments with my kid so he really loves her lesson. Science experiment really takes up a lot of time but he got better concept of the topic after the experiments.
Can pm me the contact too? thanks! -
