        25hourmaid:
        penglee:

        - 1 plus hour flight

        - easy access
        - beach + islands + fishes

        Krabi
        http://sengkangbabies.blogspot.com/2010/05/krabi-day-2-four-islands.html

Wow, penglee, nice and tempting pictures, makes me very tempted. :rubhands: May I know which travel agent did you use, which airline etc or was it a F&E package? How much was it per adult either package or F&E, if you don't mind my asking. Thanks in advance.

        hi 25hourMummy,
u can convince hubby to sponsor you a trip, for Mother's day
        - We diy book flight/accomodation.
        - we book island hopping package at hotel, price pretty standard as a lot of competition.

We took Tiger Air, not realistic to list price, as they have ongoing promotions, and price varies .
For accomodation, we stayed at LaPlaya (http://www.krabilaplaya.com/).

Seems to feature in most local tour packages prominently.
        We consider 4*, friendly staffs.
        - But out of the way. Need to walk 5 min for some shopping, 20min to stretch along Mac (more dining varieties)
        - no free shuttle service, worst, no children's pool!
        - hotel recommended for family with grown kids, or honeymooners

we recommend you google for resorts along Ao-Nang beach.
Can be crowded, but at least nearer to ammenities.
If you do not want to be disturbed, try Railey, or Phi Phi.

        sea-transport for island hopping
        1)longboat - 450B/adult, 350B/Child
        2) speedboat - 1200/adult, 1000/child

        Try both. :celebrate:

ps.. if you want to pamper yourselves, try Vogue from Tamarind --> http://krabiwithkids.blogspot.com/2008/02/koh-hong-island.html

Maybe the unrest is in Bangkok only?

However, June is the monsoon season in Thailand so afraid the sea will be quite rough. :gloomy:

              Hi penglee

Thanks for the detailed info. Will go and look through the websites you provided.

A mother's day present? :? Haha, it is a bit too late to plan for one now, right? ๐Ÿ˜‰

The hotel was considered out of way? I think most beach hotels are a bit out of way. Like the Swiss Garden Kuantan that we went to last year, it's like once there, we were far away from civilisation! ๐Ÿ˜‰ We always say, stay there, rot there till time to go home! ๐Ÿ˜›

Oh yes, forgot to add, must really compliment you on your beautiful photos. You really take very, very good pictures, like they say, a picture tells a thousand words. That's how I got attracted to Krabi, all thanks to your photos. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh yes, chixchix. Do you happen to have todayโ€™s TODAY? Thereโ€™s quite a number of short holiday promotions in there. Thought it might be useful to you.

                    Hi penglee,

Can tell us why you think Krabi more suitable for families compared with Redang? Do you think now can still book to Redang or Krabi for travelling during June holidays? Sorry huh - so last minute ๐Ÿ˜Ž

For Krabi and Redang - did you go on guided tour or F&E?

hi littlecloud, sorry if my explanation is clutter..still sorting ..

                      [free and easy for us]

                      Activities for kids
                      redang
                      - mostly snorkelling and more snorkelling.
                      - fish feeding is available at beach outside Laguna resort

                      krabi
                      - elephant trekking, horse riding, shopping and eateries abundance, although some might want to stay secluded ๐Ÿ™‚
                      - krabi has city-shopping package, but we were not interested
                      - island hopping are our highlights

                      Island hopping
                      Redang
                      - activities confined to island, less island hopping packages, suspect Redang targeting dive-tours or honermooner (romance)
                      - depending where you live, roads are not illuminated at night.
                      - MarinePark offers pristine sand and water quality
                      - beach quality at doorstep (both Berjaya and Laguna resort) is generally better than Krabi (no need to travel out)
                      - forget about shopping
                      - beach outside laguna stretch offers night activities

                      Krabi
                      - multiple islands to explore (our kids enjoy the hops)
                      - beach at Krabi (Ao Nang) is inferior to Redang's
                      - for Redang quality sand/water, need to charter boats to island (1/2 days package)

                      Food
                      Redang
                      - a lot of rendang and spicy dishes, limited dishes for kids
                      - unless you dine in

                      Krabi
                      - lots of eateries, non spicy for kids
                      - we are guilty of fast food

                      ==========

                      Other information :
                      - I read some research, and top 3 beach resorts for Thailand are Samui (30%-40% more expensive than Krabi), Phuket and Krabi
                      - For more Redang activities, please go to this fabulous site --> http://redang.org

You will have fun at either Redang or Krabi.
Our kids just need sea and fish and sand ( but not east coast park quality ๐Ÿ˜› )
