Beach/Island holiday with children

Can tell us why you think Krabi more suitable for families compared with Redang? Do you think now can still book to Redang or Krabi for travelling during June holidays? Sorry huh - so last minute

For Krabi and Redang - did you go on guided tour or F&E?

[free and easy for us]

Activities for kids
redang
- mostly snorkelling and more snorkelling.
- fish feeding is available at beach outside Laguna resort

krabi
- elephant trekking, horse riding, shopping and eateries abundance, although some might want to stay secluded
- krabi has city-shopping package, but we were not interested
- island hopping are our highlights

Island hopping
Redang
- activities confined to island, less island hopping packages, suspect Redang targeting dive-tours or honermooner (romance)
- depending where you live, roads are not illuminated at night.
- MarinePark offers pristine sand and water quality
- beach quality at doorstep (both Berjaya and Laguna resort) is generally better than Krabi (no need to travel out)
- forget about shopping
- beach outside laguna stretch offers night activities

Krabi
- multiple islands to explore (our kids enjoy the hops)
- beach at Krabi (Ao Nang) is inferior to Redang's
- for Redang quality sand/water, need to charter boats to island (1/2 days package)

Food
Redang
- a lot of rendang and spicy dishes, limited dishes for kids
- unless you dine in

Krabi
- lots of eateries, non spicy for kids
- we are guilty of fast food

Other information :
- I read some research, and top 3 beach resorts for Thailand are Samui (30%-40% more expensive than Krabi), Phuket and Krabi

You will have fun at either Redang or Krabi.
Our kids just need sea and fish and sand ( but not east coast park quality )

We just finalised our travel plans to Krabi (for June holidays) and has actually booked Amari after reading the excellent reviews by many travelers and of course Tamarind's. I'm definitely looking forward after seeing those photos! Will also do island hoping and snoooooze on the beach :lol:

I am thinking of going to Redang - more relax - no need to island hop. I am a lazy mom. Can ask you again - what makes you choose Berjaya instead of Laguna? From your blog, it seems that you only stayed at Berjaya and did not go to Laguna side. Is it easy to go to the different beaches in Redang? TIA.

If I am going to Redang again, I wil choose Laguna (tons of good reviews).

Berjaya is like 5*, everything under one roof, and own private beach.
You cannot walk to another beach, need to hitch a taxi.
(trekking will take hours )

I hope u are flying there, not coach ok.
Otherwise 8 hours will make u
(and the ferry can make u sea sick)

what are the flights to redang ? I though of taking Berjaya Air, but their booking website seems so confusing.
