2018 P1 registration exercise for 2019 intake

Is the cut off time the same for all schools until 430pm?

My plan is also similar like what u suggested above, to register at phase 1 then withdraw at 230pm at phase 2C last day, then register with another school before 430pm last day.

But my concern is not all schools will disclose how many register within 1km, 1 to 2km , n beyond 2km. We cannot analyse last few yrs data as dragon year is a whole new ball game. Anyone in the same situation.

Unless you really, really, really detest the Phase 1 school, I'll suggest that you stay put unless it's one of those bao jiak, i.e. no balloting, situation (which is fairly unlikely for popular schools).

While you can't analyze last few years data, you can be 100% sure that competition will increase across the board - a few more applicants in Phase 1, a few more there, etc. Given that you have already secured a place, failure to confirm another guaranteed seat can be pretty disastrous as you can sure that competition will be extended all the way to P2CS.

May i know, what is the purpose of register & de-register. I thought once you can go into the school is lucky already.
why want to give up the Phase 1 and go for Phase 2C? if you are plan to go another school which 2C then why bother to register the school which Phase 1? Sorry, I'm just not clear about it. hehehe

For my case, i m also gg to register my boy for Phrase2A first and monitor the school we wanted in PHRASE 2c. The phrase 2A school is abit far from my place and not convenient to get there. We just standby in case if really cannot get a seat at all in Phrase 2c school, we wil stay put and had to rack brain over the logistics. .

I try using onemap but the way it’s measure is different from elite. Onemap base on the route travel but elite is using circumference radius. So which is correct?

In onemap, look for school query. Finds buildings near a school.
Those highlighted in red are within 1 km while those in blue are 1-2km....

Onemap is based on the direct distance between the school and the home, i.e. radius originating fro the school.
Onemap is also the official map / tool used by the schools and MOE.
Elite is an unreliable source and should be avoided at all cost.

However, this phase 2C school is >2km from my new place. Hence the hesitation. I am not considering other schools within 1km near my new flat due to some preference/reasons.

The phase 1 school is very far. But my #1 will continue there since he only has a few short yrs to go.

Ladies, I gotten the data. The answer is...... 2012 dragon year has more girls then boys. This is a factor to analyse for those aiming for girl's school.

Glad to read that we are in similar boat. But for my case, the phase 2C sch is >2km. But so much nearer to new place. My phase 1 sch is a SAP school btw. But like u, I headache over the logistics.

What about yours? If yours is within 1km and not a \"branded\" sch then should be confident to get it, if u withdraw from phase 2A. Will u be hovering in the phase 2C school on the last day to find out the registeration numbers and applicants distance? Let's us all think of a strategy.

Oh goodness. We are always using elite and thought it's official. Btw onemap uses actual route by vehicle. Do they use radius like elite? Getting confuse...

If the girls' school has balloting nearly every year, it will ballot next year.
If it ballots <2km nearly every year, it will ballot <2km next year.
Competition will escalate to a level higher in 2018, that's for sure.

If the Phase 1 school is very far and you are unlikely to consider it, you may have to expand your search / consideration to other schools around your new place. Don't get fixated by only 1 school as it will severely limit your options.

Alternatively, you can stick to your registration in Phase 1 and wait till the registration exercise is over. After which, waitlist your child in your preferred school. However, you would have no control over whether your child gets selected from the waitlist and when (she could be in Primary 2 or 3 or 4 by then).
