DSA 2017
-
Thank you. Because I just called the school this morning. I was told that sports is one of the domain so it is included? I think they must be receiving so many calls the response was not accurate and she wasn’t really listening. No point calling the school as they don’t really offer answers.
Sport domain only need to go for trials and interview. The half day programme doesn’t apply to them. -
Rainbow sky:
Rainbow sky, your dd dsa which sports? did she went for her trial? So what is the half day program about? Is it a test? They are not explaining to us on the phone hence all these unanswered questions.
Thankful for this chat group.
Half day programs are for DSA Music(audition), Visual Art(test), Academic(test). Based on the website info, half day is not indicated for sports dsa. -
charchel:
Hard to say as next year DSA will not include general academic category and tests. It seems that almost all schools are already implementing part of these new changes, i.e. almost all do not have general academic tests this year, and NYGH only has interview. I re-read RGS DSA website carefully, and it does not indicate that not being called up for half day program = not successful, unlike NUS High which is quite clear on this point.Qalb:
Called RGS this morning.. all emails for the half day programme should be out today. For those who have gone for an interview earlier but did not receive an email for the half day programme, doesn't mean it's a bad thing. Fingers cross.
I too, called RGS in this morning. They said only selected students would need to attend half day program and it does not mean those are not selected for half day prog are unsuccessful in the DSA application including candidates from mainstream, it sounds weird to me.
Is it true that some just need to attend interview without half day program and can be offered the place based on interview and academic performance in the past? Does anyone has the experience in the past?
Perhaps RGS may not called up everyone for aptitude test, and will instead solely rely on past results and achievements for selection?
Thus far those called up for RGS half day program are in CCA and English. Also those called up for Maths and Science seems to be for interview but no one has received call for half day program (yet)? -

It can be shortlisted for interview then only will be selected for half day program....... or, without half day program and just shortlisted for interview before the final outcome.
Half-Day Programme\t22 July 2017 (Sat)
Only for selected applicants of academic, music and visual art talent areas
Trials\tOnly for certain sports talent areas.
Interview\tJuly – August 2017.
Shortlisted applicants will be notified by email to attend an interview.
Notification of DSA Results\tBy 30 August 2017 (tentative) -
Mine is non sports, under Leadership. I thought sports trial are over for SJI.
Thanks! My son went for the sports trial on 15 Jul. But as he is applying for IP sports, was hoping he will get into the interview round which is 20 Jul to 4 Aug apparently -

One of DD's school friend(GEP) went for Chinese Domain interview last Wed at RGS too.
Can any parents update here, is there anyone's dd(those already went interview) going for Maths/ Science / Chinese half day program this Sat?? -
charchel:
Well, we will just need to sit tight and wait. If by tmr no one from Maths and Science domain has been called up for this Saturday's program, then it strongly hint that RGS will use the Maths and Science olympiads to form their decisions. This makes sense as Maths and Science olympiads are quite established locally with a number of well-regarded competitions, so there is really no need for individual schools to do another internal test that can be much harder to ensure fairness and integrity.Ya, i read their website, they have the words 'selected and shortlisted' which is quite confusing. Hi, we are new to the local school system. My child is in P4 this year. I need guidance on DSA and I am sure there is no other platform that can help me with this. All your guidance is truly appreciated. Thank you
Hi!
You may want to try shooting. Altius Global is the best choice. I am not selling them or advertising for them. Through my son's DSA process, I learnt that the team of coaches in Altius Global are not just professional, but they go extra mile and away from their comfort zone to nurture and groom each child. May be you can let your child go for trial session to determine his/her interest. You can call them at 6268 5333 -
