my gal did her RVHS interview last week. 2.5 hrs in total in group & individual and in English and Chinese.

How big is the group? And for Chinese interview what did they ask?

my girl applied for numeracy and science DSA. For the numeracy dsa, she was asked about maths concepts (individual). This took about 45 mins. Thereafter, the teacher grouped them 6 in a group from diff sch and dsa. They were given 20 pic cards with animals, buildings... in 20 mins, they must link all the pics to form a story and present it. After that, they were given a list of Chinese idioms. The kids must choose 1 that best describe them and their value in Chinese.

Science interview was1 to 1 . She was asked if there was a fire outbreak and given tissue papers, a bottle of water and a pc of paper, how will she used the items (with reasons) and her plan(s).

Hi, is there anyone here have had experience or know how the half day prog for academic maths at RGS? Is it all about maths test?

Yah....any parents with previous experience in HDP can share their experience? Is it group discussion plus individual test or solely taking individual test paper? Maths Olympaid questions or normal maths? :?

For similar HDP RI conducted a Maths written test. From what I learn from my son, it was bit tough above P6 level.

I too, called RGS in this morning. They said only selected students would need to attend half day program and it does not mean those are not selected for half day prog are unsuccessful in the DSA application including candidates from mainstream, it sounds weird to me.

Hard to say as next year DSA will not include general academic category and tests. It seems that almost all schools are already implementing part of these new changes, i.e. almost all do not have general academic tests this year, and NYGH only has interview. I re-read RGS DSA website carefully, and it does not indicate that not being called up for half day program = not successful, unlike NUS High which is quite clear on this point.

Perhaps RGS may not called up everyone for aptitude test, and will instead solely rely on past results and achievements for selection?

Thus far those called up for RGS half day program are in CCA and English. Also those called up for Maths and Science seems to be for interview but no one has received call for half day program (yet)?[/quote]

Hi Ladylady,

Oh, it's just that I was expecting it to be by this week since according to their DSA website, the interview starts from 25th July which is next Tuesday, and I thought there should be ample notification time. But then again, they added in 2 more interview dates which is 7th and 11th Aug.
