hihi! May i check, anyone can give some info on P6 Graduation Tea?

what do they do during the session, or anything significant/meaningful ??
Last year was held on 15th Nov Tue(last Tue before school holiday)..
is it always on last Tue before school holiday??

&also any details on: Founder's Day Thanksgiving Aervice held at St Andrew's Cathedral for p6??
last Year was held on 16th Nov(wed)...usually same, on Wed of last week of school??

which one is more important/meaningful/significant, to attend for P6??

My DD was in SMPS two years ago. She attended both events. They’re one of the last gatherings the girls experience together before they move on to other schools (although most go on together to SMSS, they might be split up into different classes and may not get much chance to interact as they do now in SMPS).

I’m an ex-st Margaret’s girl n we like to get some of your feedback on the school, as my DD primary one registration will be in 2018. Also in particular I am struggling to decide between St. Margs or SCGS (of which I’m alumni), and against what many people seem to say, I’m leaning more towards St margs. And this is because:
1. A Christian environment with values and teachings imparted – any parent felt that the kids have benefitted from this? I’m an Anglican so the sch is really a right fit, tho I believe parents still hold the key to bringing up the child in the right way, the sch environment and fellow friends still have some influence and effect
2. Contrast this with the common sentiment that SCGS has too many wealthy folk. To me, the point in SCGS’ favour is the affiliation to secondary sch which I rly enjoyed going to myself and I agree that most SCGS girls from the Sec sch are v articulate and empowered (with knowledge and confidence), n go on to illustrious careers or become professionals like Doctors n Lawyers. Tho I don’t expect that of my child, I don’t want to feel like I robbed her of a place that cd bring out her max potential
3. After school care. Any comments on the after sch care? If there is a good aft sch care that I can entrust DD to, il feel more at ease to continue as a FTWM.
4. Last of all, I’m a bit swayed that many pp are fighting tooth and nail to get their DD to SCGS and here I am, giving it away. Will any of u have advice for me or perspective having had gone thru this? There was mention abt SMPS being tier 2 sch at page 179, and easy to get in…that made me a bit sad cuz I was from the Pri sch n i spse SCGS is considered tier 1 sch and the one to vy for.

depend on which school, you prefer.


both St Margaret primary and SCGS primary : are affliated to their respective Secondary schools.

if u prefer affliation to SCGS Secondary "O" level, instead of affliation to St Margaret Secondary "O" level, then enrol your girl into SCGS primary.

Anyway, your daughter will come under the AL PSLE marking points system, no longer under the old T-score system.
you mentioned that your daughter registering in 2018, for P1 registration ?
means she will be Primary 1, in 2019 ?
working backwards : means she was born in 2012, thus sitting for PSLE in Y2024 ?

Perhaps go find out under new PSLE system, for affliation : which Secondary school is easier to go back to, for O level. ?

to enter affliated SCGS Secondary : need to score lowest or minimum how many AL points, at PSLE (2024) ?
likewise, ask the same qn, to enter affliated St Margaret Secondary
then, compare these 2 different schools’ requirement(s)

Thanks for pointing it out abt the new PSLE system. Yes she's born 2012, dragon year. I will go read up more on that. The good thing abt both schools is the affiliation all the way to JC level.

Otherwise call SMPS again and look for Sally. She's the Operations Manager in charge of the PVs.

Hi. My name is James and we are excited over my daughter’s P1 journey next year. For those of you going to the orientation today, I like to remind you that the supposed walkway from Handy Road is a controlled access. The steps are opened from 7-8am/ 5.30-7pm. If you are going to the school via Dhoby Ghaut Station, I heard that there is a lift landing access from Cathay Residences ( But I am not sure if it is open for public access). Anyone care to comment?

Ok… Called Cathay residences. It is actually a 101 step climb up to Mount Sophia and the access is closed at midnight.
