The science subjects are already separated as Biology, Chemistry and Physics, taught by different teachers. They are already 3 different subjects.
As for practical, each Science would have 1 practical lesson every month on average.
In year 4, Math is compulsory, then need to choose at least 2 science subjects as major subjects. -

IBO, 1 Gold, 1 Silver for NUSHMy DD graduated in the last year 2016 batch.
Since then NUSH has a new lady principal, a revamped 100% intake (170) by DSA and there is also significant curriculum change in the curriculum including compulsory Computing studies for year 1 students. Computing Science has also added as the 4th Science Honours major apart from the Triple science. NUSH is the only JC where top category of student can take up to 3 Science Honours and Math Honours (the toughest in terms of modular credits at Year 6). Astro-physics is also being introduced to the curriculum. On top of that NUSH advocate students to do maths and science research from early years (Y3 onwards). In the past NUSH about 60% of graduates go into science and 40% in other areas. My gut feel is that future batch graduands, as much as 80% is expected to be pursuing science and computing. It would be more science \"biased\" than before. Hence the DSA is to filter out the science \"potential\" from the non-science students.
The DSA \"competition\" to enter NUSH is definitely tougher, the expectation is higher and the bar is raised much higher than any time say 2 years back.
Just take a look at the performance 2017 cohort in International Maths and Science Olympiads to know the standing of the school.
IMO 2017 ( 6 reps - 3 from NUSH (1G, 1S (almost G) , 1B) 3 from RI (1 G, 1B, 1HM)
ICHO 2017 ( 4 reps - 2 from NUSH (2 G), 1 form RI (S), 1 from HCI (S)
IPHO 2017 ( 5 rep - 2 from NUSH (2 G), 3 from RI (3 G)
IBO 2017 in progress (4 reps - 2 girls from NUSH, 2 boy from RI
At the SSEF 2017, NUSH has won 7 gold, 7 silver, 8 bronze, 7 merit and 5 special awards.
At the A*STAR Talent search competition, NUSH is the overall top school with 2nd and 3rd individual prize winners.
So parents who wish their DC to join NUSH need to know what their children expectation and what they are in for the next 6 years of their academic development. -

DC usually goes to bed around 10.30pm for first few years, don't seem to bring back much homework :?
But students will be warned for late submissions and parents called to attend PTM if the children are falling behind in their subjects. -

Actually how busy one is depends on the CCA & number of electives & other non-CCA activities one takes.DS does not have tuition. Normally those who are not doing as well are to approach the teachers for help.
For him, he need to stay back for CCA till 6pm on Monday. Tues lesson is up to 1.30pm, Wednesday will be up to 5pm. Thurs up to 2pm. Friday up to 4pm.
Tuesday afternoon is reserved for 3rd language outside and Thurs afternoon is for optional enrichment lesson. Since DS does not take the 3rd language and enrichment lessons, he can come home earlier.
Those taking higher MT will be busier.
For sports CCA, it is usually 2 days in a week till 6 pm and if one takes electives, that's usually another day that you will be late.
Plus if one joins non-CCA activities such as being involved in Interest Groups and VIA, that will take up a lot of your time. Some may join more than 1 Interest Groups too.
And if you are involved in Olympiads, you will find yourself very busy, especially during the \"Olympiad\" competition seasons whereby the school gives intensive training. You may need to stay back late almost everyday.
So how busy you are depends on how much you want to do, the school is \"flexible\" in this sense. -

Results - Ajiti (Gold) from NUSH Y6 among World top 3 positions (individual standing) which include USA and China,
2 Gold from RI boys and another Silver by NUSH representative.

No, NUSH from day 1 started with triple Science + Foundation Maths + (now Computing studies) on top of regular English, Chinese +Humanities subject. There's is no streaming ..it's foundation year for all subject in Y1/Y2 and advanced in y3/y4. It is a well-known fact that Y1/Y2 covered \"O\" level standard while y3/y4 curriculum would covered A Level \"H2\" standard. The specialisation year triple Honours Science+ Calculus Mathematics are well-above the JC level \"H2\". For most Physics, Chemistry and Bio with \"H3\" level accreditation.
Y5 (JC-level) is the year where specialization in majors or honours class in Triple science+ Maths (major) or Honours. Some student prefer to have one major in Arts (econ, Hist, Geo) or Music. Top % of student are allowed to have major in 4 Honours including Maths plus triple Scince or Computing studies. Y5 student must also start their Advanced Research Project (ARP) which is on one of the graduating requirement by Y6 convocation.
Refer to website for details on the curriculum on the foundation, Advanced and Specialisation year. Some high performing students are even encouraged to take acceleration in Maths, Chemistry or Physics at junor level. At Y5/Y6 some NUSH student are taking NUS modules in maths, physics, chemistry.

noticed that in Yr (1 & 2) :
they didn't break down into (E Maths & A Maths syllabus), which normal O level Secondary schools usually do.
means cover both Maths ?
May we know if Further Maths, is covered in Yr (3 & 4) ?
