Hi, may I know when is the PV selection for children born in 2009? What’s the chances of getting in the school if I stay within 1-2km and assuming I get selected as a PV? TIA!

Is it compulsory to have CCA in P4?

Hi everyone, thinking of sending my daughter to holy next yr. Catholic staying more than 2km away. Any feedback on the school? Kids happy? Principal good? Homework policy? Thanks in advance for any form of help.
Hi keinc.
My boy started P1 at HIPS this year. My sister's daughter is in P2 now and her older son graduated from HIPS last year. Our experiences with the teachers are very positive so far. Those that we have interacted with are found to be approachable and supportive. Parents are given the teachers' contacts (email/HP numbers) so parents can contact them (but don't harass lah ). Since we did not have one-to-one contact with each and every teacher, we can't conclude that all the teachers are good. I'm sure as with any organisation, there might be some not-so-good ones lingering around.
As for Principal, I haven't had any occasion needing to see/talk to her yet, so no comments.
Homework load is manageable, sometimes more, sometimes nothing, but definitely do-able. There are also some home assignments during school holidays. For instance, my boy had some short online assignments for the March holiday. Teachers also give out a calendar of activities in advance such as scheduled tests, assessments, etc so there will be no surprises. There are no formal exams in P1. Students' progress will be reported based on selected assessments etc.
The school offers some optional enrichment programs conducted by external parties at additional costs. These courses are held outside school hours. For my P1 boy in PM session this year, the courses are in the mornings of school days.
My boy is very happy attending HIPS and is enjoying himself. But again, as with any community, there are always good and not-so-good folks, and he did share with me about some \"naughty\" children in the school.
Overall, I am very pleased with the school so far. Performance wise, I feel HIPS is doing well. However, for parents who are looking for an elite school that tops every single chart, then this is not the one. It's all about knowing exactly what we want and managing our expectations.
By the way, the school will be undergoing upgrading works onsite from June 2014 to June 2016 to allow it to go single session in 2016/2017. Students will continue to attend classes in the same address during upgrading.
Hope the above helps -

Hi Keinc, I'm in the same sitation as you, Catholics living more than 2Km. Looking at past year's registration it is very likely that we need to go through balloting in phase 2B. I'm just not sure if our chances are good and if we should risk it. Are also looking at other catholic schools as backup? -
Hi, I am new to schools in Singapore. I would like to send my son to Holy Innocents as I am interested in sending him to a Catholic school staying at hougang. But I would like to know if the school is only/mostly for Chinese (as the website says ’ rich Chinese culture’).

Hi, can anyone advice where I might be able to get a breakdown of last year’s 2B registration in terms of how many were within 1km, 2km and more than 2km? I only managed to find out that out of 43 places, 50 registered during phase 2B. TIA!

Hi nmj,
Holy Innocent is a SAP school which means that they only provides Chinese Language as their Second Language. You can refers to http://app.sis.moe.gov.sg/schinfo/SIS_SearchDtls.asp?strCode=5634&snm=HOLY+INNOCENTS for more detail on the subjects and CCA offered by the school.
Holy Innocent is a popular school among the locals, every year there will be balloting among the citizens living within 1 km from the school during the last phase of registration. You might want to view the http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/hougang to determine your changes of enrolling your DS to the school. Wish you luck. -
Hi,
I took part in last year’s Phrase 2B, >2Km balloting at HIPS.
There were 9 applicants for 3 vacancies, it was a 1/3 chance.
I called the school on the second day for an update on the number of vacancies before making the decision to register my DS at HIPS.
Hope this helps. -
Good luck to all who are aiming for HIPS!!
