      Hi Sun_2010,

Thanks for the advice! So the impression is that normally NUSH will offer a number of WLs & COs that slightly fall short of the required 170 students per cahoot ?? I can already visualise myself trying to count all the students who turn up for the DSA tea session. (!)

Really hope that all the WLs will converted to COs after PSLE results. I personally dun feel very 'secured' but also dun want to stress my kid too much before Orals/prelims this month...
No they probably give out 170 COs and some WLs . The number of WLs is likely a conservative estimate based on the previous years.

Not all with CO will accept NUSH, as some may have received multiple COs/WL from other schools like RI/HCI/ NJC/ACS/RV so on and if that is their dream school, they will opt for them. So that creates vacancies and gives a chance for the WLs to get converted. But there is no way for the school to know for sure how many of the COs given out will be accepted by till the school preference form is submitted by the students (usually in end of Oct) . And this part of the processing is done by MOE for all schools, so it probably takes time for even the school to know if the all WLs will be converted or not.

Best is dont worry about this, what ever is going to be the outcome, there is nothing you can do now to change it. So focus on the next challenge PSLE. But of course that is easier said than done.

My advise as a parent is if your child is very eng and , then use then high light the unsureness of WL to get him/her to work harder . If you child is sensitive and has taken this to heart , then paint a rosy WL story . After all this is a kiasu parent forum. šŸ˜‰
Do note that the children will be discussing this in the next weeks in school and it can affect the morale of children.

Are both CO and WL be invited to the tea session?

Yes, DC got WL and invited.

Last year there were 7 preview lessons option. If each lesson has only 1 class and each class around 24 kids. That is about 7x24 = 168 kids attended the lessons.
Maybe some absence, so not able to estimate how many WL.
Anyway knowing the number can't change anything. You have to put NUSH as first choice in the DSA-Sec school preference form to gain the chance for the WL to be converted to CO.

                    congrats!!

For past and present CO NUSH holders, may I know if anyone is NOT an MO winner (Silver and below). I got the feeling that NUSH only offers CO/WL to MO (SMOPS, NMOS and RIPMWC) winners (biased towards boys?) only.
nope!! I got in without an MO gold but that was awhile back. Not sure about now.

I heard the expectation is very high and majority of the students achieve 100/100 in tests and exams. Some says it's a pressure cooker. I'd like to hear comments from parents whose kids are currently studying here.

Nope, students dont achieve full marks easily (especially in year 3 and above, in fact you should be mentally prepared to fail quizzes and tests). It is a pressure cooker for year 3 and above. Year 1 and 2 is like Disneyland.

                        Danhoemark,

I understand that yoy have some frustrations and regret, but do know that this is a public forum. I suggest you edit to remove the year you are in and the gender from the post above. Please exercise caution about revealing personal details that can be narrowed down to a few people. My sincere advice.
