For Singaporean and Singapore PR children born in the year 2013, the closing date for registration will be 31st July 2017.
P1 registration for those born in year 2013 is 2019.
So it looks like PVs will have a year and a half to clock 80 hours of service? -
don’t mind me asking,
how many PV are there per year?
15-20?
Pri1 registration for kids born in 2011 is coming soon. -
Any parents, planning (and executing) Phase 2B, for kids born in 2012?
You can PM me and we can chat in a smaller group (if we have the numbers) so that we know our chances.
Kiasu …yep, I know. -
There is a new exam format for PSLE Sc this year. How about marking scheme, any changes?

Dear parents,
May I know what is the probability of getting into Nanyang primary if the address is >2km? Will doing parent volunteer help? -

Hi wyq,Dear parents,
May I know what is the probability of getting into Nanyang primary if the address is >2km? Will doing parent volunteer help?
Does Nanyang primary allow parents staying outside 2 km, to be applicants for Parent Volunteer ?
Although the PV Application Form itself does not explicitly indicate any info, perhaps you may want to call up the school, to clarify first.
PV form is here :-

school's contact telephone number is here :-

Refering to past years' Balloting historical trend, under Phase 2B, balloting was conducted, for less than 1 km in year (2016, 2015, 2014, etc)

Do you notice that for certain years, even if you're selected to do PV : for parents staying outside 2 km, there is No guarantee that they may have the chance to even ballot, under Phase 2B. This is the risk that they take, if selected. -

Yes, best to call up the school : clarify if they do accept PV applicants or not, for those staying outside 2 km.
Last time, I have a friend who studied at Nanyang Girls' High before (NYGH was her ex Secondary school), but her ex primary school wasn't NYPS. But she really wanted her daughter to study in NYPS, very much. So, she applied to be a PV. In the end, she was luckily selected to be a PV, even though she stayed beyond 2 km. But that was last time, years ago. Now not sure, if things have changed, or not.
Is the PV worth it ?
Think the answer is subjective.
If your child is a daughter : it is worth it, if your daughter can get in, after clocking at least 80 hours of PV work, since NYPS girls are affliated to NYGH, provided can meet their Affliation Cut-off-point requirements, which come under the new AL PSLE scheme, for your daughter's case.
If your child is a son : because no affliation to Hwa Chong, the opinion is subjective : although a number of parents still very much love the strong school culture and the thick, rich, decades of historical ambience plus the conducive SAP environment, here.
