Not true la ... dd has zero tuition after she entered IP school via DSA CCA and her T-score was below the school's cut-off point ... she is coping well now ... and the school doesn't encourage the students to go for tuition ...all the teachers are very friendly and helpful, so no problem for the kids to approach them if facing problems ....

      Yes, I also agreed.

My dd1 also get into an ip school and her t score below sch's cut off point.

At that time, appeal was allowed and was the last batch. Until today she only has not so expensive Chinese group tuition (cos the Chinese standard in this sch is super high), the rest she is managing on her own and is doing fine without tuition.

She has to commit to her sport cca, training 3 times a week. It is not true that sport dsa players have to spend a lot of time training in sch.

Be it entered into an ip sch via sport dsa or join a sport as cca, the amount of time spent in training is the same. Most of the time, only if a player is under the national team (represent singapore) then they have external intensive training.
I find that is not about how well one's score well in psle but is the learning attitude. Someone pointed out that psle can be drilled and have a lot of tuition in one subject to boost up the score but learning attitude really can't be taught. Only positive self motivated learning attitude will succeed be it which sch they go. Just my 小小 opinion.

      Hi coldleaf,

curious ... if you don't mind, may we know which Cca is your daughter in, at NYGH ?

Ya lo! Haha! That's why no matter which IP schools you go --- still need TUITIONSssssssss!

Referring to your earlier post about teachers in IP schools not teaching much - I guess \"much\" is relative. It's important to be with students who generally need about the same amount of repetition and explanation so teachers will cater to that level. For students who don't like a lot of repetition and are willing to do more self-study, they prefer it if teachers teach \"less\". Since the teachers are happy to clarify when asked, it really shouldn't be a problem as long as the student doesn't need help all the time.

If a student thinks she needs tuition in several subjects if she chooses to go to an IP school, perhaps it may not be such a good choice. Having tuition in 1 subject, at most 2, is probably quite normal as not everyone can be equally good in all subjects. One of my daughters is in an IP school, and while many students have tuition, there are good number who do not have any tuition.

Hi kiasuPumpkin, based on last year, results for both RI and HCI were released via email. On RI website, it is also stated that no information on application status or outcome will be provided over the phone.

I have friends' daughters studying in NJC so these are the feedback I have gotten. :scratchhead:

my dd is in NJC , year 5 and her teachers do teach and guide, no spoon feeding tho, guess thats why they want independent learners. 😄

DD is in an IP school, year 1. She has tuition for Maths and her GPA was above 3.8. Most of her friends have tuition in at least one subject, especially Chinese. IP tuition are not cheap and I hope I don’t have to add on. She mentioned that she need tuition for Maths because the teaching pace is fast. She read up the notes ahead of the lesson and tries to complete homework during free period. She worked on the past year papers for revision. Academically, I don’t think she has an issue. She DSA via science but her PSLE score met the cut-off point. So far, she say there is no need for additional tuition as she is coping.

I think if the child meet the cut off point for the school, should be able to cope with the IP curriculum for that school. Maybe need tuition in 1 or 2 subjects.

How about MGS IP, anyone heard or received CO? Thanks.

2 years ago, they (1 of the interviewers) called successful applicants, followed by a letter of offer. No email sent. For this year you may want to check with mgs.
