Hi, I’d like to ask if HCI offers triple science combination for Year 3s? And are there any special science programs for interested students in year 1 and 2? Thanks in advance.

You can offer Trip Sci in Year 3-4 but your overall MSG and Sci marks must hit a minimum (cannot remember what now).

Thanks Lexis. Would you know if can still opt for biology if DS has color deficiency?

              Hi!

Anyone here whose son went to HCI without any accompanying friends from primary school?

Traditionally, my son's primary school only has 1 or 2 kids, if not none, going to HCI. I am wondering how difficult the adjustment would be for my kid without knowing anyone in the School. Plus he isn't taking HCL now. Hmmm.
Hi! My son came to HCI along and there is no problem at all! He has made many new friends and along the way he was a student council exco, CCA head etc. I think it also boils down the character of the kids 😄

So your ds has dsa successfully to HCI? Congrats! It is a great school!

Re Color deficiency - not sure, best to check with the school. I would imagine it also affects chem (practical exams)?

Oops the answer I typed earlier did not appear. Hope it gets through this time.

Yes, my son received a CO from HCI. We didn't expect it. I do not know how he will fare eventually for the PSLE but I am hoping it wouldn't be too far from the high 250s otherwise I am not sure how he will cope academically. (My son is not from what is regarded as a 'top' primary school.)

It is so encouraging to hear how your son in spite entering HCI knowing no one, ended up being so involved in school, and contributing and serving in so many ways. I certainly hope my son has a fulfilling time in HCI too.

On Chinese, my son is weak in the language. His primary school is traditionally weak in the subject, always faring below the national average in A* and A. Haha. However, his historical and current affairs knowledge of China, and his general curiousity and interest in China, is pretty good for his age - he's surpassed me in this aspect. I hope the immersion to Chinese in HCI will help him improve his language mastery but hopefully he copes and does not drop out!

Thanks lexis, will check it out with the school. Hopefully DS can still pursue the sciences he is keen on.

Your son must have been offered the CO from humanities. Well done!

hi newkeynesian…it was leadership; we didn’t try other categories…the only other possibility for us was sports.
