Hi there,
The child will not be retained if he fails a subject. However, assuming the child fails either english or chinese, instead of being promoted, he advances to the next level.(Normally for Eoys the teachers would be lenient and will not fail students. My son never had a classmate that failed any subjects in sec 1 and 2)
In sec 3, if his msg is more than 3, he will be channeled into structured integrated programme. However, chances are if the child fails a subject, he will most likely end up in sip.
In sec 4, most of the students in sip(almost 90%) will end up in 4Q, which are o level classes.
Hope this helped! -
Hi HCI parents,
Would you know what happens if a child passes all other subjects decently in Sec 1 and 2, but fails Chinese? It happened to me in Sec 1 and 2 when I transitioned from normal Chinese to Higher Chinese. -
Hi, does anyone remembers what were some of the expo topics for Sec 2 Eoy last year?

Do you have any idea what is the difference between \"advance\" and \"promote\" in HCI?Hi there,

I think “advance” meant that the child did not get well enough to be promoted. If the child is sec1, then it is not as serious. If the child is sec2, “advance” might be a worry as might be ask to go SIP. Maybe can find out more from the form teacher.

The boys can wear white, black, grey shoes with little or no brightly coloured trimmings.
