Q&A - PSLE English
-
phtthp:
My understanding is that you use two commas or none. How does one know won't be penalized, if don't put in comma appropriately ?
Is there any PSLE English rule, that state or document this :
Is it True that \"No need any comma, won't be penalized. Comma is optional \" ?
Both structures are acceptable. -

It is an informal email. Is SW formal or informal? I heard it is written to a cousin. Is it correct?
If my child had written formal instead of informal, will she get penalized?
The difference is in the tone. You would write in a friendlier manner to your cousin than to an event organiser, for example.
Some teachers split hairs over the signing off... (Yours sincerely/faithfully, regards...etc)
That is one of the differences between the 2 kinds.
Also, for a formal letter, granted that the recipient does not know who you are, you should mention it somewhere. If your child hasn't written that, then it might still sound like an informal letter? Lol
There are still content marks based on the qns. So, do not worry too much about it.
It takes up 15 outta the total 55 marks of paper 1 -

Yes! That is why I usually tell the careless kids who forget to use the pair of commas (for whose whom who) to just STOP using them altogether! Lol

Hi have a question from the paper. Compre oe: something to do with the girl saying "really"? Sorry my dd forgot the question haha but she not sure abt her answer

So is the conclusion that 2017 PSLE English is harder than 2016? My son said it was hard.

Is anyone here an ex-school teacher? Thinking maybe you can grade my DD’s compo, she could remember what she wrote.

Im not sure but my DD put her ans something like this,
Rina wanted to emphasise on the word really, she wanted Meng to tell the truth. -
You mean she can reproduce back what she had written in detail during PSLE English Compo, yesterday ?
If she had done mind-mapping for her English Compo, if her memory still afresh (because only yesterday sat for exam), it is possible to reproduce back the same quality work submitted to Invigilators.
If Yes, is good to ask her to reproduce, get the English HOD in her school, to assess her essay written.
Is good to have a second opinion, especially for those who did not elaborate in detail in what way was the gift so "special" ?
In any case, the PSLE markers won’t be the same English HOD from her school. They will come from another primary school, since they will be rotated around, within the schools’ defined zone cluster. -
