kylene:
I’m also not keen to start tuition for my child but how else can we get the material from the tuition centre ? Especially for Chinese , I feel the textbook is insufficient for oral and compo.
I hv the P5 & P6 TLL, 汪. If u're keen pm me. -
Essential:
If the child MT is not the weakest subject dun waste time and money on tuition .. focus on the weakest or math ... For p6 I believe most parents can still cope with self teaching ... spend time and money on the weakest !
Absolutely agree. We got burnt sending our kids to TLL. I do admit they hv well researched & presented materials tt somehow kids love. I've tested out with MindStretcher & TLL and all prefer TLL. Maybe also combination of interesting topics/stories round the world & worksheet layout. Wished someone had the materials to share with us then don't need to pay through our nose. If u're able, teach your own child & save those precious resources for something else.
One KSP mum shared with me her sister quit as teacher to join TLL to teach English but ended up 'forced' to teach science bcoz many teachers keep quitting. Ano KSP told me her fresh grad nieces hired without experience, now she buy the materials to teach her kid.
Altho I do acknowledge some situations call for outsourcing - kids cannot cooperate with parents; some kids thrive better with peer motivations in classroom context; parents can't keep up with syllabus.
If really need to, there are other less expensive centres parents can send kids to. Some ex-TLL teachers started their own or partner with other teachers near neighbourhood.
For English compo - we had experienced an excellent coach, Ms Agnes from Writers@Work. They've centres at both Bt Timah Kings Arcade & Clementi Ave 2 (near MRT), but not sure maybe also Toa Payoh (I'm not certain). They were formerly authors of [email protected] series sold at Popular Bookstores.
To tackle main paper, can consider Academia run by Mr Johann Loh & Mr Sherman Tseng and other teachers (think one ex-TLL). They're at Sin Ming Plaza 2. Accessible fr Marymount MRT (5-10 min walk), next to Shunfu mkt & foodcourt.
Unless yr child very weak in Math, owise can use centre materials to practice at home. Usually hv answer keys. Owise, Math Hub teacher quality not bad. We had good experience with Alex @ Bishan centre. He even refunded us fees when found my DC was very competent & can solve all the MO qns given. Honest, reasonable & caring educators.
Hope this helps. -
Kylene, if you really wants the tuition centre notes. I suggest you put your child to tuition centre. Otherwise get the original notes pass down from relatives or friends. I have a friend who gotten into trouble with the law on photostat notes from a couple of tuition centres (still in the midst of settling in the law suit). How she was caught.......I am not going into details. Tuition notes already stated - \"no part of this publication may be reproduced without the prior permission of xxxx\"
So I suggest parents, pls do not get yourself and your family into trouble of unnecessary kind. -

Never sell yr originals. Trace fr there. Blank & share copies
Dont insists in getting originals or with names, u're partner to 'crime'.
If passing to relatives, it's not a crime. Don't think too much.
One year my frd, out of kindness, shared her child's materials with neighbor's kid who was weak in Sc fr this famous centre. She's a kind soul & did not realised shld blank out identities first.. They tried to initiate lawsuit against them but thankfully the neighbour, a lawyer, refuted as it was not commercial transaction. The famous centre had to back off. -
I doubt it is that simple as in blank out the names. The act of photocopies are already copy infringement. The act of "sharing" in media is evident to such crime.

In my frd's case it was original.
In case of photocopying, agree.
So, technically, by sharing school's exam papers without expressed approval goes along same line as us all committing 'crime'? I rmbr one KSP shared one recent Sc paper with no answers nor letterhead, then recent ones sent were with full letterheads & some sch answer keys.
We're all in touble! :torchme: Cannot share anymore! -
Sch exam paper : can share.
If cannot share, then Moe schools will sue those people who sell SA1, SA2 papers at Bras Basah complex, at Marine parade already
That famous centre sue, Bec per lesson v ex, around $ 95 -

It's more surprises then what ppl signed for up - additional 'forced participation' and additional fees.Sch exam paper : can share.

Anyway, most schools will do exchanges after Prelims but the HOD answer keys will not be shared publicly. Some sch very protective till PSLE over. Other receiving schs will mix a few qns fr each sch Prelim papers under the heading of PSLE Revision excises without indication which questions contributed fr which sch Prelim papers. Those printed & sold in public are collation by commercial bz not sure source. Answer keys are not reliable. -
PSLE over soon… in case any parents keen to purchase the used materials . PM me please

Mdm asfa bought some egg tarts and cheese tarts. She paid a total of $168 for the tarts. 40% of the tarts bought were cheese tarts and the rest were egg tarts.
Each egg tart cost $6 and each cheese tart cost $3 How many cheese tarts did she buy ?
Did anyone find a common method to solve this type of problem ?
