Comment from DS. Maths P1 tricky, P2 ok with some tough questions. Overall a bit tougher than 2016's cos of P1. Science P1 tricky, spent more than time than usual, P2 not easy either, overall tougher than 2016's. Chinese P2 tough compre, tougher than 2016's. Eng tougher than 2016's. :xedfingers:
So overall all 4 subjects tougher than 2016... that's very very crappy!!! :stupid: But of course there will be a group find the papers manageable to them so it's all about moderation now. -
Hmm…my DS is from neighbourhood school, not top school, so maybe he finds it tough. Perhaps also we didn’t start revision early. I believe for those students whose schools set tough papers or prep early will find it manageable. My friend’s DS finds it manageable which is comforting news to some.

My DS shared the same comment too. To him, Maths and Science is manageable except for more tricky questions as compared to previous years PSLE. He even told me that previous years PSLE questions are easy but theirs seem different. He did not even come out telling me that any of the papers are easy probably except composition???

My DD shared that this year Science p2 has a lot more questions for them to answer. For every qn, there is a lot more sub section. So if they spent too much time in p1, then may not have time to complete p2.

hmm..
maybe the breakdown of question make them easier to gain mark ? -
This year, they are the first batch with MCQ reduce to 28 questions and open-ended increased to 44 marks. Understand that two questions had 5 marks but break into subsection.

but my child's sc teacher (HOD of Science) told us for 1 mark question its either zero or 1 mark no 1/2 mark given so if breakdown of question have alot of 1 marks then it is worst...:xedfingers:

My boy has abt the same feedback...Maths is easier than prelim, Chinese bcoz he do HCL, so compre section is ok for him, Science P1 tricky so he took more time than he should, end up P2 suffer...he says he just write as fast as he can and whatever that come into his mind...no time to rethink if correct or not...After Science, i think he has lost confidence on his targeted tscore... :slapshead: -

Regarding 'either zero or 1 mark no 1/2 mark given', it is very confusing as for school prelim, half mark was still given. Right?

for prelim paper, given 1/2 marks
finally is over, can rest :xedfingers:
