Anyone has any idea how the undergrad or poly students find their internship? Heard they need lots of experiences through this internship especially SMU. They have to find themselves though.MNC companies are hard to get in,like P&G,Uniliver......

For an internship, I think the company isn't that important as long as it's in roughly the right area of work. No need to try the MNCs if they are so hard to get, because it's hard to get jobs in those companies anyway. This is when parents need to ask around all their network - relatives, friends, friends' relatives, relatives' friends...

        Poly
Schools usually source for companies and help find internship placements for students.

        University Level
There is some internship portal which students can tap on and there is a list of companies which students can apply to. Alternatively, students can self-source for their own internships. There is still an interview process to pass for candidates to be successfully employed as intern.

You can try sites like http://www.internsg.com or http://www.indeed.com.sg (search for \"internship\" or \"intern\")

            :thankyou:

I am an undergrad in a local university (NUS).

I have gone for 2 internships and will be going for my next one with an MNC (General Electric) starting next month (December).

I have to be honest here: the search will be hard and the competition will be intense if you intend to go for MNC.
The main reason is because MNCs have to account to shareholders and so will be VERY selective in choosing their candidates.

Academic grades are a good start but MNCs look for a lot more than just grades. I’m saying this because I’m not exactly the ‘top performer’ in uni (I’m one tier below the top), but really it’s a lot about what you can offer the company (which has to be really special and niche for MNCs to want you) and how much you’re willing to learn (because the opportunities they offer is potentially endless).

Then again, even in the search process, especially at the start, I think the key is to have fun and accumulate experience - in terms of interview skills, academic knowledge in school and the ability to engage in deep discussions on real-world issues 🙂

                  Can consider glints.sg

Great place to hunt for up and coming internships with corporates and startups alike

If anyone wants to do an internship abroad, I will suggest that St. Thomas University. St. Thomas University is a famous university in the USA. These provide quality education with an internship.
