      Dear All,

I need an advice from you… I am a ex student in Poi Ching and my elder girl should be qualified in phase 2A2 right? The most tricky part is our flat is within 1km to Gongshang Primary…

Sorry for been selfish, is it possible for me to register my girl in 2A2 first then see the outcome in Gongshang 2C?

Should I get my girl in Poi Ching or ballot in Gongshang?

If you decide to register with Gongshang, you need to first withdraw your application with Poi Ching.

You cannot wait for the outcome of gongshang. You can register with Poi Ching under phase 2A2, but if you want to register at Gongshang under phase 2C, you have to withdraw from Poi Ching first before you can register at Gongshang.

          MOE don't allow double registration.

            Hi,

Has anyone here been through an interview with SHPS to become a PV? What do they ask during the interview? Would appreciate your advice. Thanks.
please see the well-written replies from MdmQ...

            Hi,

anyone knows how st hilda select PV, wat is the criteria? thanks....

Selection of PV is done by the school's PSG Chairman. I am not sure what exactly is the selection criteria but there are several rounds:

            1. Round 1 (Shortlisting) - this is purely based on the application letter. So it is better that you indicate in your letter what you can contribute to the school.

            2. Round 2 (Briefing) - usually all the shortlisted PVs will be briefed of the requirements, expectations etc. The purpose is to ensure that PVs are aware and will be committed to provide their volunteery service once being selected. Those who cannot commit may drop out at this stage

            3. Round 3 (Interview) - PVs who wants to stay on after Round 2, may be called for Interview by the PSG. This is the last chance for you to explain in details how u can contribute to the school.

            4. Round 4 (Recruitment) - PVs have been selected and invited to attend and welcome briefing by the school's Principal. You will also be asked to sign the confirmation letter as a PV.

Usually chances are given to PV staying >1km, because this is the only chance for them to come close to registering in SHPS, because in Phase 2C, even those within 1km MUST ballot. But, if you are >1km, there is no gaurantee if you PV, because it will depend on the number of grassroots and Church affliations in phase 2B.

Therefore you should be aware of your chances, execute your plan, and also have other backup plans in case Plan A did not work out.

            Good luck!

                Hi kaushal26,

Looking at East Spring's past balloting history (http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/tampines), they always have balloting for those living within 1km in phase 2C. So be prepared that you might be one of the unlucky ones and end up not getting into the school.

Unless you are willing and able to become a PV, then your chance is more or less assured.

Hi. Would like to ask whether anyone choose a school bec of single session? Currently, I have 2 schools in mind and hope you all can share your views:

                  1. Poi Ching
Pro: 0.3 km from my house, SAP, everyone say good school
Con: Double session; likely to be more stressful bec of their high chinese std.

                  2. Tampines Primary
Pro: Single session (8am to 1.30pm; 2 days/week is 8am to 4pm; don’t need to go back on Sat for activities); new buildings with great, latest facilities; neighbourhood sch and so shd be less stressful.
Cons: 1.4 km from my house

I really like my DSs to attend morning session school so that they can wake up and sleep early. Currently, they wake up easily at 7am and go to bed at 8pm. Can’t imagine how’s their sleeping pattern will be if they go for afternoon session school. With this reason, I am keen to go for Tampines Primary and prob buy a flat next to it. I think sleep and least travelling is the most impt. But my DH thinkg is a stupid reason bec Poi Ching, a good sch, is just next door to my house and shd be able to enter even without PV.

For those who have no comment, pls help me by voting which school will you choose if you are me. Thanks, thanks, thanks.

Hi, I humble suggestion is, if your child is really strong in MT, then Poi Ching is the school for you. TO be honest, their chinese standard is really high. Nontheless, I believe nothing is impossible if the heart is willing. My other comments are the children are generally more well behaved. No complaints on the teachers too. Rest is up to you.. :celebrate:

<sign>I hv triplets. I hv confident that only 1 is ok with Poi Ching's MT. The other 2, don't know, may be struggle? Someone was joking with me that I have to handle 3*2000 = 6000 chinese words in 2 years! Not funny at all. I am all stress up hearing this 'joke'.
