I believe you bought the JR railways pass. For Nozomi bullet train, I think there is only reserved, unreserved or green seat. I'm also worried about not able to get reserved seat.

Do you have any problem with your luggage. It's my first time taking Shinkansen. I heard the cabin is small so big lugguge would be a problem. I supposed those medium sized 28 inch should be alright?

Yes. I did mention we bought the JR ticket, so it was easy to re-book seats on-the-go without worry of extra costs. We didn't find problems re-booking last minute after missing our booked seats but one time it was very full during peak period & our family had to split seatings, another time the 'split seatings' (we were told no 4-seats together) we cld sit together when we boarded (guess some families might hv missed their train).

There is green seats and ordinary seatings (normal ordinary seats are comfortable enuf) and the prices are different. Green/ordinary seats has nothing to do with reserved & unresevered seats, except ordinary seats are hot in demand esp peak hours.

We started travel fr Kansas to hotel using the train (initially plan to take limousine bus but arrd past 11pm so miss the last bus). You can leave yr luggage right at the beginning or end of the carriage you're assigned to. It's wide enuf to put at least 2 big luggage each side. For cabin luggage, we brot with us to our seats. Many regular Japanese riders wld put luggages, etc on compartments above seats. As travelers, I always ensure everything within my grasp for good reasons. One time my family refused to take my advice & due to fatigue placed all their backpacks on the upper components & forgot to take after grabing luggages. Thankfully we got them all back, albeit wasted waiting time for return train. The design ofctrain provides for hooks for costs & umbrellas, flip table for meals just like airplanes.

The Tsukiji fish market is definitely worth visiting. Go there to explore and get \"lost\" in the alleys. Can eat the street foods like the hokkaido ice cream and those egg omelettes (on satay like sticks). If you enjoy eating sashimi, the seafood is very fresh.

Go early like 9+am to 10am, otherwise it gets too crowded.

We didn't do the auction but coz it's within 5 min walk fr hotel, we eat there everyday. Do try those restaurants with chefs prep counters. Got nsmecard but I can't interpret fr Japanese. It really added pleasure to our meals. We tried one with seating (can't rmbr address or names but without counter) most of their sea urchin, prawns, tasted off. Tho I stopped eating after a few slices of fish, I got diahorea shortly after. Best take probiotics & some medication. Seems even Japanese often get stomach upset due to sushi diet.

We tried those grilled stuff. Absolutely recommend the casual market atmosphere. Just be careful coz there'll be bikes maneuvering ard the alleys.

We bought loads fr the grocer & gifts fr some of the specialty stores within. I kept postponing getting the rare mushrooms & regretted now. We packed mochi (variety flavors - strawberries, chestnut, asuki beans, pumpkin, etc) daily for our afternoon snacks. :drool:

And noted for the probotics. We usually will get the whole family to take them when travelling. Also planning for the flu jab since it will be winter time when we travel to Japan in Dec.

Hihi! Can i check if we have 2 luggages of 29\" and 1 lugage of 30\", is it ok to travel on the shinkansen..from toykyo to osaka,
with 2 kids(8yr old and 12 yr old)??
the last row of seats is wide enough to store the 3 luggages?
we would be travelling on a thursday noon ard 12-1pm after check out from hotel near Disney(not peak hour right?),
so would need to take from shin-urayasu station & transfer 1 time at tokyo station to go Shin-Osaka station..
(still haven't figure out how to trasfer from local subway to skinkansen at tokyo station... :roll: )

& we haven't bought the 2 luggages of 29\" yet, so can still buy smaller like 28\", if 29\" are not advisable...
& then may have buy 3 * 28\", or choose to send our 30\" luggage via delivery to Osaka hotel...
(been delaying buying coz so busy+so unsure!!! :?: )

& can i check if we travel last week of nov-1st week of dec, it's considered end autumn, beginning of winter right??
still need flu jab or any other jab??(sorry for such noob question :scratchhead: )
& also a bit confused with what kind of clothing we need coz not really winter yet?? :?
don't want to add on unneccessary load for nothing! (I check temperature betw 4-12deg??)

Hi Junemum72,

You can do F&E whole of Osaka. No need to pay for your agents. Osaka is very easy to travel around via subways & buses. We did mostly subways & short walks. In fact, if u're not sure of directions, all the train stations staff shld be able to advice u if u pick up map or asks, albeit some communicate thro bits of English & hand gesture to point direction. When traveling by subway, rmbr to asks for Platform number so u get the right direction. Also there are lots of direction signs labeling which are the dropboff stations.

With Klook, pls ensure u print out whatever bookings u had made. We were caught unprepared & book only when in Japan. Thot fortunately our hotel provided free access to desktop & paper, but unknowingly we made a mistake reprinting one serial number & missed out the other. As we had changed to local SIM card, DH had to pay for printing one pass & almost lost Spore SIM card in process of changing (verification msgs sent via Spore SIM card). Also, time loss.
