      Hi Chief,

It's nothing at all, actually with a word or a sentence that can bring comforts or helps to people, in return bring joy back to people who offers. Now I m SAHM, this is the maximum I can do with all my knowledge and with the help of websites and my reference books. I really feel bad that I can't help her much more. Suddenly miss my job... 😢

...If you do need helps /medical advices / any doubts that you are uncertain, you can email me at <jenniferjoey>, you are not alone, you can bring up your queries/complaints/anything to everyone here....

Hi jenniferjoey, I'm totally impressed by your offer to help despite your delicate condition. Says volumes about the breadth of your heart. Thank you.

        HEALTH STILL IMPORTANT........
        NO MATTER WHAT.......RIGHT?

Hi, not all 'hole in the heart needs' surgery. As Jenniferjoey mentioned, it depends on the site, size etc. Some holes close spontaneously as the child grows. Some adults live with it without any problems throughout their lifespan.
On the other hand, I have seen children and adults who have undergone surgery and do well so there is really a spectrum of conditions. If you are still looking for an opinion, you can look for A/Prof Wong Keng Yeen, a nice and very experienced Paediatric Cardiologist at KKH.
I can understand your anxiety as my child was diagnosed with a heart defect at birth and I remembered almost breaking down in tears worrying what if my fragile little baby needed surgery. Kid went through the process of investigations -echocardiography( non- invasive), over a few years and he is pronounced to be treated like 'normal', even with the defect still present. I just found out that I have a 'hole in the heart' too sometime last year and I have lived through half my life not realising it!

          Hi!

My son had a hole in the heart, too (ASD), and the hole closed when he was coming to 4.

Perhaps you would like to provide us with more information on your child’s condition? We can be listening ears even if we can’t help much. Who knows, there may be doctors among the KS members who may be able to advise you?

I totally forgotten of this thread. i forgot wihch i posted here.

            ^^
            Time really pasted very fast.

As i knew this during last year term 2 Kindergarten holiday. And now a year. My boy reached 7 (6+ years old) in Primary School now.

Was advised no Dental in the school.

And i will bringing him for next check up. In Jun during school holiday.
in fact alrdy late for review. As i couldn't face it. I worries the murmur and hole in the heart still there.
I took my boy for family's consult Flu @ same time asked to hear my boy's heart. Was told still got some sound (mur mur). sigh.
And for this illness (murmur & hole in the heart) it won't grow as fast or as same in his same age.
He among all smallest size. He eat well. but just no gain weight. He still wore size 29 or 30 in his shoes. Look. this age of kids shld be tall & big size than him lOL. sigh. 🙏

And i faced so many pple asked why my boy (him) looks so small sizes. i am totally speechless. no anwser @ all. really hate to heard all these.
            No one understand my feeling.

for past few year my boy eaily throw out. as hard for him to digest.
And now he under LactoGG (Probiotic) which taken daily. So far my boy took ard 1 year. And doing well. Totally no digestion problem.

Meanwhile now we are not under any medicine Heart murmur & Hole in the heart.

I have to pray pray hard for the next review which coming next month. 🙏

My MIL and my DH(inherited from her??) have some kind of sound in their hearts but it does not seem to affect them except for my DH’s case, he gets an occasion attack.

The attack is a sudden increase in the speed of rhythm of the heart and at standing position, he would look like he has run a few 400m around the stadium. So how do I help him when he gets such a seizure? I shock him bad! After the sudden jerk from me, his heart would return to normal. He did a few ECGs but it seemed that nothing could be done as it was due to a nerve suddenly gone haywire.

I think medicine relating to the heart may still have some limitations as the heart is a complex organ, like the brain. Just continue to be vigilant and watch your child closely.

                  Janice _950,

Good luck on your son's upcoming review. Wanted to tell you that there could be other non life-threatening reasons for heart murmurs.

I have a mitral valve prolapse.
                  http://www.medicinenet.com/mitral_valve_prolapse/article.htm

In my case, it's not serious, but it can get annoying because I suddenly have a very fast beating heart. Is this the condition your hubby has, ksi? In my case, no-one's tried to womp me in the chest or back, so I don't know if that works :). But it does settle itself. Often times, it's just an irregular heartbeat that I can feel. The condition also makes me a bit jumpy, as in, I get startled easily by sudden movement or loud sounds. I can't even flush the toilet on board the plane without covering my ears because of the suddenly loud sound that will happen within an enclosed space!

I was on medication before to regulate the heartbeat, but it doesn't have any long term positive effects, so I stopped. The doc says I'm as healthy as the next person, and within my family, no-one has had any heart disease, so I'm hopeful I'm fine. The only precaution is to not exercise excessively.

The most interesting, holistic prognosis of the symptoms was given by a Chinese sinseh. I had gone there for a torn ligament and he detected the prolapse from listening to my \"mai\". He asked if I was startled easily, and if I wake up from scary dreams in the early hours of the morning - all spot on! Apparently, my heart condition causes these symptoms and not vice versa.

Perhaps the best thing you can do is to study your family history as heart conditions are likely to be hereditary. In the meanwhile, make sure your son is not overly active and has plenty of rest.

                  Best wishes!

Just to share, it is very impt to get a good and experienced paediatrician and get him/her to check for murmurs when the baby is born (at 7 days or 1-month checks).

A good paediatrician who can pick up the murmurs is Dr Teo Siak Hong (Baby Bear clinic at Woodlands). Some inexperienced ones don’t even know what murmurs sound like. Not joking.
