My child born in 2013 and we stay within 1km from taonan. I am contemplating if I should send her there when is our turn for pri 1 registration. My sis in law was telling me that she was once a relief teacher there and she saw alot of rich spoilt brats there. She suggested I should send Ngee Ann instead. Haiiz… those children already in taonan are they stressful. Do they have alot of extra curriculum or tuition after school? Dilemma…

during my DS's 6 years in TNS, we did not encounter any \"rich spoilt brats\".

he did encountered a not so friendly classmate, but the later was only child from a middle working class couple.

dont depend on hear say. since you stay within 1km to TNS, why not pop over, observe and form your own opinion. 😄

Rich kids?! My friend was lamenting that there are many neighborhood kids mixing around with her rich children. But it depends from class to class. The children are happy in Tao Nan is more important than knowing who is rich or not rich.

May I know if Bicep is recommended only if child can speak good Chinese? If scored well in exam >90% but generally hardly/don’t like to speak Chinese, is gg to BICEP a good way to help improve Chinese speaking through learning more about Chinese culture? Or will it just kill the child’s interest even more?

If selected to go for Bicep test/interview, just go for it. You can decide later whether or not to accept the offer when your child eventually pass the selection test.

Probably same time as result slip cos they need to determine the Top 15% to take the selection test.
By the way, those who have taken the test before, what is the written test about? More compre or compo type of questions? Thanx

I’m guessing the proficiency in Chinese must be rather good, not just written. But I’m wondering if it can spur a child who doesn’t like to speak Chinese to improve. Any parents with children in BICEP can share more? Not that DS got the letter but just curious since tns is afterall a school rich in Chinese culture so I’m sure BICEP is one avenue where they focus on.

If I am not wrong it is a very short test. I think they will be given some pictures and they can choose to use any one of the pictures or all the pictures to write a short passage( about 10nlines or so). I think there are also a few mcq to do. Then lastly, they will be placed in small groups for the interview. There is no need to prepare for the test. The test is typically conducted on the last day of school, Wednesday.
