Comparing Chinese Enrichment (Primary/Preschool)
-
after the trial lesson today, I asked my girl if she’s keen in the new class and her reply was she liked her kindy more. I guess its the new environment that she’s just gotten in.
The teacher seems fine and the kids generally paid attention. My girl was able to follow the class but she doesn’t sound keen. I don’t know what to do next, whether to continue or not.
Are there any speech and drama class for chinese language? I’ve only come across english ones. I have a feeling she’s more keen on lessons with more movements. -

Hi, anyone has experience with Eduplus Language Centre ? How is their standard ? thanks
You may want to check it out at thier website for more information. The reason is that they do not give you any trial class & every term you need to pay for material fees. -

Hi eskimo,
Usually the trial would give you very little evaluation. Perhaps you can continue to have 1 more trial again before signing up the entire package. -

Yup, try one more lesson? Sometimes, girls of older age e.g. K1/K2 has more opinions abt wat and where they are learning. Keep observing her to see whether she likes the class.after the trial lesson today, I asked my girl if she's keen in the new class and her reply was she liked her kindy more. Or is there a gd chinese enrichment class in your gal's kindy since she likes her kindy more. As the environment is similar to where she has her regular lessons, she might have less resistance?

hihi,
Thanks again for the suggestion. Din know can ask for another trial. I’ve just signed up for another trial. Hope I can get a better feel this time.
Can I ask I read some parents talking about a small book for berries class? What’s that? I only saw the big exercise/activity book used during the trial class. -

There's one at her kindy, but the hours are not good for her and I have no transport to send and pick her. So I can't consider that. Sigh. I'm not sure about the quality though.

OIC... then is distance a problem for u? I have tried JG in forum before (for their holiday prog). In my opinion, the standard might not be as gd as Berries but they have more movements in comparison.

However, i think at K1/K2, the enrichment class focus more on input of Chinese characters. Hmm... try another lesson again or u might want to try Tien Hsia if it does not work. Heard tat its almost the same as Berries. Juz my 2 cents worth..

Anyone has experience with Berries at Kembangan or Tampines Mart?
-
Just to add that my son has been with Molin since N2 and he is with the same teacher now at K1. I just feel that the classroom / environment and the teacher are both not that conducive in encouraging interest in Chinese for young kids...so am now looking elsewhere...
sigh...took me that long to finally wake up. -
hi voovoo,
sorry, what do you mean by encouraging interest in chinese? DS1 was with Kembangan Berries few years back. I’ve since switched him into SHHK (hokkien huay kuan) chinese enrichment. During that time, Berries didn’t have holidays - I felt very stressed planning my holidays cos it meant he has to miss class. Not sure if they changed already. SHHK’s calendar is provided at the onset - they follow pretty much the academic school calendar.
For K1, they have 樂樂華語班. 3 teachers in the group (quite big class - think about 15 or so). Singing, reading, and a bit of writing. DS2 in N2 - so he only have to write strokes. DS1 in K1 had to write words. But the writing is not the siong type (maybe 2 words and each about 6-8 times).
It is very similar to Berries (ie they have weekly readers) but I feel the materials a bit more cheem, teachers very fun (they bring bean soup, biscuits, rice etc to class from time to time depending on topic on hand).
For K2 (FYI), SHHK classes is more tough (cos preparing for P1 mah). There’s reading (like 1 composition worth), writing (6 words, each about 12 times) and dunno what else inside. This class is more quiet - machiam like exam; as compared with the other one above.
