hey, it's actually because they separate the weaker HCL students from the stronger ones, and the weaker ones are all in one class so they can be taught at a better pace. (on another note i think only HCL students canenter the sch unless they're dsa students)

      Don't quite get this.
My understanding is that those who meet the COP of the school will be able to get in via Sec 1 posting, irregardless of whether the child takes HCL at PSLE or not.

      Lego,
      Your understanding is correct.

TBH i'm not very sure of this as well. Speaking from personal experience (Rv student here!), I was in a weaker HCL class in year 1 and even then, my peers in that class all had taken HCL except for one DSA girl, and they had mostly scored around merit for PSLE. As a SAP school that takes a lot of pride in having strong roots in chinese culture, it would be kind of weird if the school didn't have any requirements for HCL in primary school, especially since the year 1 need a b4 to pass chinese too. I don't think anything is announced officially, but it could be an underlying factor in choosing students, you know? 😄[/quote]No, it is a confirmed fact that HCL in PSLE is NOT a requirement for entry to the school. Parents are informed of this beforehand, and there's nothing gray about that point. And there are student(s) who didn't take HCL in primary school who's selected for the \"stronger\" Chinese class, which means that HCL result for PSLE isn't the deciding factor which class they go to as well. The \"stronger\"/\"weaker\" differentiation criteria isn't announced so i wouldn't comment on that.

What is the COP for this year 2017 PSLE result to RV? My Son got aggregate 246 and his HML is merit. Any chance for him to get into RV?

Last year COP is 251. 248 is pretty good, but the 3 points distance is a bit risky.

What is the promotion criteria for each level? Must the student attain a certain grade for higher Chinese? Must the student offer Malay as third language subject? Thanks.

GPA of min. 2 for 6 core subjects + CID, and B4 for English and HCL, to be promoted every year.

No Malay third language requirement, but it’s taught as an enrichment subject.

Officially is min B4 for english/HCL, but don’t worry, this is far from being a hard and fast rule for promotion…

The school does not have O level class so you don’t have to worry about being "demoted" to O level class or the intermediate / observation class like in other IP schools.

In my opinion, one attractive aspect is the school is generous when it comes to supporting student choice for subject combinations… Many kids are given triple science or triple humanities for sec3/4… and almost everyone get the subjects they want.

                      Thanks!

How about CCA? Is it easy to get into CCAs of your choice if you don’t have any prior experience ?

May be challenging but no harm trying
