If my son is interested in maths, chemistry , econ and history, is this under the category of arts or science?
If taking 4 H2s, then Science.
If taking 3H2/1H1, it depend on which subject he is taking as H1. If the H1 is Maths or Chem, then probably Arts; if Econs or Hist, then probably Science.
I don't know if different JCs have different ways of categorising or whether this the MOE standard. It's best to check with the JC. -
Hi parents! I was wondering if anyone has any advice for me
L1R5- 7 after deducting 2 CCA pts my L1R5 is 5
The combi I am intending to take is H2 Geog, Chem and Math H1 Econs
I was thinking of NYJC and NJC (both cut off pts are 6)I was wondering if you could tell me more about these schoosl? (eg culture & academics)(Distance wise Ny is nearer because I live in the northeast)
Or do you have any other Jcs to recommend?
Thank you in advance!

Definitely NJC. You should not use COP as a gauge only. Look at the A level results over the years. The reason NJC COP drop last year ( my opinion) is because the setting up of EJC at Sinai which was very near.Hi parents! I was wondering if anyone has any advice for me

1. NJC have been definitely producing much better A levels over the years. I cannot find any detailed results from NYJC, they have been pretty silent and secretive on this
2. NJC has a longer and more established reputation in the market.. If you tell me you are from NJC, it gives a much better \"impression\" than you tell me you from NYJC
If you just basing selecting JC on distance, than you can certainly look at TJC. -

Hi everyone, my daughter got 12 raw & 10 (-2 CCA points).
Thinking of SAJC or CJC (both 10 points). She's also affiliated to the latter though probably won't make a huge difference. Can't pick between the two since they're the main 2 she's deciding between
Initially she actually wanted to go to SJI (7 points) or ACJC (8 points). She is wondering if she should list them on the JAE application, considering that schools are apparently going to increase cut off points due to mergers (though probably only by 1 or 2 points at max)
Will Eunoia down on the list somewhere though not that keen.
Any thoughts & advice, especially regarding CJC vs SAJC & possible increase in COP for SJI & ACJC?
You can always try , no harm. Nobody can predict how it is going to be. you can also take a more serious look at Eunoia...I was at the openhouse...it seems to be a JC with great vibe and potential -

Cannot compare. One is an elite JC, the other is a heartlander JC -

Definitely NJC. Just by looking at its IP COP is enough to ascertain its students' quality. It's worthwhile travelling that extra distance.laughinghamster:

Another reason is that since NYJC's nearest JCS - AJC & SRJC will be merged and AJC's COP may be likely go up to 12-13 pts, the 7 to 9 pointers may try to apply to NYJC instead of AJC. If NYJC expands its intake, since it has the facilities, its COP may go up to 8-9 points. Just my guess. -
Checking on behalf of friendβs DD. She gets net 11. Based on JAE 2018 booklet, AJC & SRJC Science COPs were 9 & 12, resp. What are the chances of being accepted by Anderson Serangoon JC please? Tks in advance.

Hi, can someone help to confirm if my understanding of posting is correct? If 2 students with same gross and net score say 10 apply for same jc. If there are 10 vacancies for 100 applicants, if student a put the jc as 1st choice vs student b who puts it as 2nd choice, both students still hv equal chance via balloting right? ie the student can take risk to apply for a jc that he is 1 pt short n be safe to enter his 2nd choice where he safely meets the cut off. TIA!

No. The student who put the jc as 1st choice as higher priority. The system will filter all the first choice students and place them accordingly, before moving to the 2nd choice. Hope this information helps.
