Dear Zac's Mum, are there any official government websites we can refer to on such statistics? as to how many children born in a year or how many boys and girls born in a year? Thanks!

This is the official govt statistics website, you can try to find the info from here. I dunno where exactly to dig out the annual gender ratio though:
      http://www.singstat.gov.sg/statistics/browse-by-theme/births-and-deaths-tables

There is also a KSP forum thread on birth rates, maybe u can find sthg useful there:
      https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=395

My personal opinion though: the national stats do not mean much because the popular schools will always be oversubscribed, and the unpopular schools will always be undersubscribed (even having to cut intake or merge). Also the newer estates will always be more competitive than the older ones.

If u want to plan, always plan for more competition than expected. Eg. In DS' year (Tiger baby), low national birth rate, but somehow there were more boys than expected registering for his Christian boys school.

My own prediction: Dragon year babies' registration is coming in 2018. I predict the SHHK, Buddhist, SAP schools will have sky-high competition from traditional Chinese families.

when daughter registered for p1, the birth rate for 2004 was supposed to be low. but i remember there was an unexpected surge. so for kids born in year of the dragon and horse, be prepared for competition.

So far the historical trend says it's safe. If registering this year, u should be fine. Anyway u can usually get some insider info from your Alumni management rgdg how many have daughters born in same year as yours.

If yours is a Dragon baby registering next year though...u can probably expect more applicants than seats.

Please note that the statistics only include babies born in Singapore. You will have to factor in new citizens and PRs as they might have children born outside Singapore. As for dragon babies, you can assume that most will target popular schools.

I am torn choosing between Radin Mas or South View, can anyone able to advise me? I can go via 2A2 for both of these school.

If staying location is not a concern, purely choosing between these 2 schools, which one will you go for? :slapshead:

both are co-ed schools, both do not have affiliated secondary schools.
one in choa chu kang, the other in bukit merah.
it really depends on whether you want to stay in town area or the outskirts. HSK said, 'all schools are good schools'....however parental involvement is NECESSARY.

Does anyone know is it because not all applicant for 2B took up the space when they got it, hence, it’s 88% in 2017?

No, it’s because at least 20 seats are reserved for phase 2C. That’s why TUR cannot be 100% at phase 2B.
