Oh and some may say that NYJC is a heartland JC? True, it is quite centralized in Singapore. Yet, it may not do justice to the school and label it as a heartland JC when it is backed up by high key figures like Wee Chow Yaw and its School Management Committee (SMC). These Chinese heads together lead reputable schools such as Chung Cheng High Main as well. Wee Chow Yaw is the chairman of Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan which takes charge of other elite schools as well. Surely NYJC wouldn’t be just a "heartland" JC? Even more so with its competitive COP

Exactly, when we say NYGH is the top secondary school, what are we referring to? The logic similarly applies in this context. If you want to scrutinise further, I suggest you to contact the MOE and find out whether it is reasonable to label a school as a top school or elite school (as stated in the Straits Times), I hope you get a favourable reply.
I think you are really confused. NYGH is a top secondary school not purely because of its COP. It was because of its excellent \"O\" level track record prior being selected to be an IP school (and also her long illustrious history). If you looked at the trend, MOE only select the top performing school to be converted to be IP.

If NYJC is sood good as you claim, then why did MOE not select NYJC to be a IP college, yet chose to set up a totally new college Eunoia JC to be an IP college ?

MOE has never ranked schools by COP. They did a official ranking of schools ( by academic performance) many year back but have since stop it. So your definition that a school is top in academic performance is determined by COP is baseless. COP only indicates the popularity of the school which arises from many factors, including how nice is the school field.

Furthermore, NYJC's value added quality has always been in the top 3 among all JCs since 2007. In terms of academic performance, someone mentioned that 2016's cohort of 3 H2 distinctions with a pass in GP is closed to 40% (of which i calculated it to be about 38% or so some time back: https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=68179&start=540
        Excerpt is here:
\"As to how I calculated NY's percentage, since a forummer here said that there were about 260 students or so who had gotten 3H2 distinctions with a pass in GP and the 2016's batch have 670 students (source: https://www.instagram.com/p/BKVj5GyA2qZ/), my estimate was correct, the percentage will amount to 38.8%, in fact. But to be prudent, I have given a more conservative figure. The 35% distinction is on the assumption that the previous year was 31%, but since no one can confirm that, I feel that taking the figure as 38.8% will be good to serve as a conclusion., as reported from a newsletter shared by a NYJC parent.\"
Errr....is that all you have anedoctal and hearsay \"evidence\". Surely you can come up with better official detail data to support what you say? But I understand the difficulty of you getting the real official data because NYJC has been really secretive in publishing this...I wonder why?
        mindays:
I shall refrain from comparing, all schools are good.
The fact that you self-declare unabashfully that NYJC is the top non-IP JC is itself a comparison with other colleges

Surely you are not suggesting that NYJC is on par or better than RJC, HCJC, NJC as elite JC ?

I would suggest you conduct a poll. I think many in this forum have indicated that it is a heartland JC. While I think NYJC is an above average JC, I would still say it is a Heartland JC

It is the same definition for secondary schools. All the IP schools are elite schools. Simarly, the IP JC are the elite JC.

Hard truths but thats the fact

Cool, perhaps MOE should look at this thread.

I am sure that MOE looks at this thread. The hard fact is there are elite schools and there are not. Just learn to accept it and you wont be so bitter about it.

Would you think a Toyala vs Lexus. Toyota can be considered a elite car as it is reliable and has the biggest sales volume worldwide?

In the public’s eye, it is still a normal car

You are a pretty good liar. Did you not just make a comparison in the Meridian JC thread and conclude that MJC is better than TJC and that proves that non-IP JC is better than IP JC ?

Someone asked for academic information between MJC and TJC. I have the information and so I shared. I did not start the comparison.
