Sorry for the super wet blanket. When my boys were in P6, the vice-P advised us against even trying to calculate the T-score based on the cohort of 300-400 students as it can be motivating or demoralising, depening on which end of the T-score one gets.
If the so-called ‘self-calculated T-score’ is high, it may give the child a false sense of security as the real T-score for the PSLE might be very different from that of the so-called, ‘self-calculated T-score’ calculated based on the child’s results in school and also, one has to take into account different schools have different standards in making, so a 80+ in School A need not necessarily be equal to a 80+ in School B. -

That's why I go around lecturing my friends about studying. And some of the responses they give me were usually this: \"But you so smart, third in standard leh.So scared for what.\" Then my lecture will continue about competing against the whole of Singapore.Even my teacher does the lecture yet it doesnt seem to affect my friends,my bestfriend even said she probably failed her mt paper 1 for SA1 and said she will get C for english. Another said to wish her luck in failing her maths.-_-Sorry for the super wet blanket. Sighs.... Sorry to sidetrack.:P -

that is the reason why I said to vanilla she is competing against GEP students as well as those whose marks are in the 90s ..... and whose internal t-scores have always been lower than actual PSLE t-scores. FYI, that SAP school whose students in the range of 90s for EMSC only have 255 to 263 as internal t-scores ..... and traditionally at PSLE they do manage to get another 15 to 20 in t-scoresSorry for the super wet blanket. however, some schools do give out internal t-scores from P5 onwards, giving the highest / lowest / median marks as well as the SD, and the individual subject t-scores. that way, parents have a feel of where the kids stand -

Yes, this is very true.

But I am sure if you are willing to put in extra effort and be the top in your school, you have a chance. Go and check, what is the highest PSLE T-score in your school history. If you can achieve that, you sure have a chance to get in your dream school. Jia you!!! -

Hi ningy,hi,
My gal's in P6 thinking of NYGH next yr. Wonder if it is really $ here, $ there (as indicated by someone in this forum) ? are the students mainly from the rich families?
Onethree is right, there is a good mix of students from all walks of life.
To know about the $$ fees structure, you can visit the NYGH web site, under About NYGH/Financial Info/Information on sch fees/Studetn Finance information.
Hope this helps. -
Wonder if anyone can verify the truth of this.
Bumped into a not-so-close friend yesterday and was told that her daughter is in NYGH Sec 1 this year. Said got in through DSA though her T-score was below 260.
Was kind of surprised as I know that the fees of NYGH is way beyond their means (I know her well enough to know that), so I causually asked if she's on a scholarship and was told that because the girl applied to take AEP at NYGH, and was successfully allocated a place, therefore the school fees is only $13 a month, same as any government school. I was kind of  I mean $13 a month for an independent school is a bit difficult to comprehend. Anyone can verify if this is true? -

may be AEP attracts scholarship

I don't doubt what was said either, but just kind of surprised that the school fees can drop so much just because of AEP, that's why thought would be good to ask and see if there are anyone here who would be able to verify the truth. Not that I have any interest in NYGH anyway, perhaps can say just kaypo!
