In today P5/P6 level briefing, I am able to understand why HCL is not that important. If student A scores 253, student B scores 250+3 and both choose the same secondary school, student A gets the priority. Tscore is always the key determining factor. HCL points of +1, +2 or +3 only comes into play if the last vacancy is taking tscore of 250, then the +3 will be at an advantage. Otherwise, points are useless.

Many parents are impressed with last year PSLE results, snapping photos of the slides. According to p, this year P6 cohort is even stronger than their last year seniors, base on P5 performance. They are expected to produce even better results.

All eyes on this year P6 especially that 2 “I” classes, Innovation and Initiative. They have the best teachers for all subjects and the reasons are obvious!

From now on, it will be subject based banding, no more top classes.

There will be another round of fund raising for school upgrading. TOP is slightly delayed to Mar 19 so we are unlikely to move back in beginning of next year. DD1 is excited to take PSLE in the upgraded school.
Thanks for the sharing . Not trying to sound otherwise, but if kid has interest/flair/aptitude for HCL then go ahead if the other subjects can be managed.

Can share how do you know/who are the better teachers?

The P briefly mentioned about additional enhancements to the initial upgrading proposal, so would be happy to help with the additional funding request.

SInce there will not be any top class, wondering if the classmates would stay in the same class throughout the years but shift around based on the subject banding during lesson time. . A bit like tertiary education style where the class comes together for other non-graded subjects.

i was at the pri3-4 talk and hence, not much elaboration on HCL.but this round at least he didn’t discourage opt in of HCL. He briefly mentioned that all subj must b above 75

To qualify for HCL in p5. He also did emphasize that with the sch rich Chinese history, they encourage kids to learn the language but gotta balance w core subjects.

Hopefully by banding kids on subject, they need not have to move around classes. They did not share how it is going to operationalize.

Not difficult to find out who are the better teachers. Can network with other parents with older children in the school, they will tell you who are the Teachers who can produce results. Alternatively, flip through past years year books, see which classes these Teachers are normally assigned to. Even there is no ranking now in P5, we parents also roughly know which are the 3 better classes. The kids know too as they see most of their smarter classmates in these classes.

I understand from parents whose children graduated past 2 years regarding our school poor performance in HCL every year. The Teachers hardly prepared the students for HCL exams. In a year, they only did a handful of HCL comprehension and HCL compre is very tough, I heard. Not enough practice and preparation, that’s why HCL performance is extremely bad in PSLE. For those taking HCL in P5/P6, we need to put in extra effort on our own to obtain at least a credit.

              Hi,

my girl is going to join PCPS in 2019. I just got to know that the school will still in afternoon session from the year of 2019. Any parents know if nowadays still have student care for the morning session?

              Thanks! 🙂

                Dear Parents,

i’m going to move to Woodleigh Glen - the new BTO in coming 2-3 years, and i would to enroll my son to Pei Chun.
he is currently 4 yrs old, so by the time i move in to my new BTO, he will be entering P1.
may i know if there is chance for him to enrol if i manage to join the parent volunteer at Pei Chun and apply under Phase 2B? will it require ballotting?
besides, is there any school bus provided after CCA to SCC?

                thanks in advance.

                Regards
                Paige

No one knows whether there is a chance for you if you manage to join the parent volunteer scheme at PCPS. That's because no one can predict the take up for Phase 1, or the number of alumni applicants in Phase 2A1 and 2A2, and the number of applicants, such as GRL, in Phase 2B.

Given that PCPS has balloting for 1-2km in Phase 2B (though not in the last 2-3 years), there is a risk you have to assume if the new BTO is > 2km.

i fully understand the risk, but based on the historical record, seems there are higher chance than Maris Stella?
