They are moving to centralized computerized balloting at MOE HQ instead of manual balloting.

But...they still refuse to give distance breakdown. So how will the parents know whether the child is participating in the balloting or not? Just sit and wait for snail mail notification after the computer is done?? Are they going to send SMS to the parent, like what is (I assume) happening for balloting results of Sec 1 posting?

Update: Channel News Asia article provides more details: “Parents will be notified of the ballot outcome via SMS on the day the registration result is announced. A letter will also be sent to them at the end of each phase of the registration exercise.”

for this year automated computerised balloting at phase 2A1 (if any), phase 2A2 (if any), phase 2B and phase 2C for hot, popular primary schools, the automated balloting will be held at MOE premises. Parents no need to attend balloting anymore, physically.

this computerised balloting is similar to the one come psle 2021 (kids born 2009), where students who happen to have the same AL score in the common pool, will face computerised balloting, when enter popular Secondary schools

Does that means parents can register at home or anywhere? I guess scan all the documents and attach online. Once successful, than show that original copy?

Online registration has been available for several years now, but for phase 2C and 2C(S) only. You can read all the nitty-gritty here: https://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/primary-one-registration/internet-registration-for-phase-2c-and-2c-supplementary/primary-one-internet-system

Both parents need to login with their Singpass etc etc...

I see from your username that you are an RGPS alumni. If you’re using phase 2A1 or 2A2, you will still need to register physically at the school. If you’re not in Singapore, then appoint a proxy.

last time we have 260 to 280 students... easily \"rankable\" for allocation to schools

the same type of students, come 2021, will be a huge pool of 4-pointers...
good luck to the administering of the ballot... doesn't seem to be easy at all.

                  Scary, isn't it ?

                  Come psle 2021 (born 2009) batch :-
behind the scene, inside the MOE computer, they will still store the old T-score, plus the corresponding new AL score, for each P6 student. But MOE wont release their T-score anymore, all hidden from them. Parents & P6xers only know their new AL score. That's all they know.

imagine that pool of P6 students, many scored 4 A1, under AL scheme. But amongst them, some maybe scored 26x, others scored 27x (T-score).

Then, all these students with 4A1 undergo computer balloting, inside their own pool.

Imagine one student with 26x, computer selected him, got balloted into a good Secondary school, while another student with 27x (higher T-score), but computer didnt pick him up, instead he got balloted into another \"less good\" Secondary school. For the next 6 years, he got to study in this \"less good\" IP Secondary school. Frustrated, isn't it, because 27x performed so much better than that 26x student, yet couldn't get in ?

Hi, first time posting. Hope I am doing it correctly.

I am a mother of 3. My eldest is a dragon baby and going to register for P1 this Jul (already so stressful now)…

There are a few questions which I hope all can help me with:

                    1. I have a house in Seng kang but it is within 2km from Nan Chiau Pri, which is the school of choice. However, I have been living at my mum’s place which is within 1 km from the school (she helps to take care of the kids). During registration, I understand that they will be looking at the address on the parents IC. Is it possible to change the address on the IC to my mum’s address?

                    2. Me and hub only found out about the affiliation to hokkiem huay kuan in 2017. We tried to apply and only got in in Dec 2017. Do you think there is a chance I can get a recommendation letter?

                    3. If we are going for phase 2c, me and hub were very stressed out on whther we should try for ballot at nan chiau or go straight to springdale pri, which we assume has a much better chance on getting in straight. Any advice on this?

                    4. If we are not selected during the ballot in nan chiau for phase 2c, does it mean that the only choice is to pick schools with vacancies for phase 2c(s)?

Thank you so much for helping out a mum in distressed. (",)

If you want to be considered as <1km, then you'll have to change address, but that would actually be illegal as you're not staying there. It would be hard to explain to IRAS when it comes to paying property tax, especially when your real house is not eligible to be rented out. If it's eligible, you can declare it to be for rental and you'll pay higher property tax.

If you choose to let your mum signs the declaration, you'll be considered as 1-2km, so not much advantage there.

I believe it's too late and your chance to get the letter is very slim.

It depends on your risk appetite. Personally I will try to avoid balloting, unless I have a school in mind for Phase 2C(Sup).

                      Yes.

I think it’s scary that people still think that any schools with a 26x COP (or even a 250s COP) can be considered as “less good”. Extrapolating that argument, some of the remaining secondary schools, even those in the 24x range, would probably fall under the “horrible”, “cannot make it”, etc.

                        Elitism 101.
