GSS not that fantastic…especially for those who travel frequently.

the discount is not that great and you always see ‘UP TO 70%’ promotions. the sale is just not genuine enough to attract shoppers.

Forget the Great Singapore Sale. The retail scene in Singapore is slowly being killed by inflated retail rent. Retail rent is artificially being propped up by supply of commercial properties being deliberately limited by the planning authorities. The writing is already on the wall. URA still thinks that only manufacturing needs land cost to be kept at a decent level, hence its outdated rules on B1 permitted use. By the time they realize it, chances are good that the frog has been well and truly boiled.

In actual fact, only 20% discount on most items. Disappointing!

20% is no big deal. Retailers make it such a big thing giving 20%. Hardly any dare to give 30%...that might probably attract shoppers. 20% is for clearance on most occasions.

                Buy online cheaper.

Buy in Japan/Korea/Taiwan during the holiday so much cheaper. Recently went to Japan and bought cosmetic items, which is more than 50% off as compared to SGP and even at SGP airport, plus plus is tax free some more.
