      zac's mum:

I beg to differ. Logically speaking, there are more than sufficient total places all across island, for all the babies. There are plenty of neighborhood schools in far flung areas that have empty seats not filled up, year after year. So why does MOE need to create more places?

They don’t have to - they are just being nice. For political reasons or not, unknown.
      key question puzzling, is :
for this year 2018, dragon year cohort (for 2019 P1 intake, born 2012) : an extra of 2600 new vacancies had been created for P1 admission

But how about subsequent year P1 registration, after this year dragon cohort admission, ie. for 2020 P1 intake (born 2013) ?
will these 2600 vacancies be removed after this year (2018) registration exercise, or still remain permanently, for 2020, 2021, 2022, etc P1 intake ?

if remove : motive is clear- that means 2600 vacancies created, just to tackle dragon year born children.

But, if still remain : is it for political reason that purposely create 2 thousand more vacancies, so as to allow more PR & foreigner children, to study in Sg ?

Don’t need to politicize every announcement la.

        Go to singstat to check.
After dragon year, there’re the Sg50 babies and subsequently the sg51 babies. All have huge numbers.

If I may offer any guesswork, the 2600 is catered to these 3 years of babies, at least.

the branded schools didn't increase intake...meaning those still aiming for them will face balloting at 2A for some.

MOE always said all schools are good schools...so there are more vacancies now.
          .
based on the above list that show names of schools, that expanded by extra 1 or 2 more P1 classes :-
noticed that majority are ordinary, neighbourhood primary schools ?
For popular, hot (GEP / SAP / Affliated mission) primary schools : there is NO increase in extra P1 class.

Hence, balloting under Phase 2B, 2C continue to be very intense this year, for popular schools, this being dragon-year cohort admission. Only thing is because now no need to witness balloting anymore, since no need to go down school premises, so the \"pressure\" during balloting is lesser felt : except wait for that important balloting sms, from MOE.

Question: There will be P1-IS online registration and it starts from 30 Jul 2018. But whereas if personally go down to sch to register is only from 31 July 2018. Why is there a difference of 1 day?

And with the online registration, will the school still be able to provide info to parents as to how many applications has been received if parents are at the school on 31 July & 1 Aug?

Any kind souls able to help?? Thanks…

Online registration starts 1 day earlier and closes 1 day earlier.

The reason is, so that the schools can tally up the number of applicants more accurately. It’s hard to do so with the online numbers bumping up every 1 minute or so right? So, if u go down physically on the middle day, beware that the number may or may not include online numbers. U can ask them but they also cannot give u very accurate. At most they can tell u thats the number after a certain cut off time.

The most accurate count will be on the final day.

So does it mean, no place to check live applicant count data for each school and each phase?

And one more question, any place to check live Vacancies Amount for each phase?

In fact SAP Pei Chun, reduced by 30, a total of 60 spaces over these 2 years.
Probably old estate and moving to single session.

Hello, i guess Gong Shang and Poi Ching will be out for Phase 2C 1 - 2KM. Any idea if Tampines or Chong Zheng will be a better choice? Thank you.

There is no “live” online update, despite the technology available nowadays 🤷

I’m pretty sure MOE HQ has their internal data “live”, but they are not releasing this info to the public.

MOE official website will update ONCE per day only. At the end of each day, after the closing time. Sometimes late evening. I’m sure KSPs will announce it here. Bookmark the official website here: https://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/primary-one-registration/vacancies
