Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools
-
Bear in mind this year Marymount will be an extremely popular backup school in 2Cs. I already heard of some people in my office saying if balloted out in 2C, the most send their girl to Marymount. Those balloted out from nearby schools like IJ TP, SNGS, Pei Chun, Ai Tong, Rosyth etc will turn to Marymount. It may not be a choice school but still not too bad.

Thanks Phtthp.
will read up and bear in mind. Haha. Was hoping for some advices on thebest course of action. Nonetheless thanks for your advice.. -
In any case, you have two shots at NYPS. Reg at 2B first, better chance at 2B than at 2C. In recent years, registration under 2B for NYPS seems quite okay (the number of PV has been limited by the school to avoid disappointment I think). The ones throwing the number off tangent are the GRL which the schools have zero control over. Last year, 2017, everyone who reg for NYPS under 2B got in. For first time in a Long while, there wasn’t balloting for this phase. Everyone, the PVs and GRLs were glad it was that way. You have two shots at it. So register in 2B first, in the event touch wood you aren’t successful, monitor the numbers of both NYPS and RGpS at 2C. You have an advantage for rgps, since it’s very highly probable that all SC under 1Km are usually accepted in at phase 2C.

Thank you Missus_Lim
appreciate your advices. Fingers crossed thou that I can get into the PV. I tink there is a selection process and yes I saw in 2017 that the registered spaces in 2B is 20 and all 20 got in.
now got to go check and see when can I register for PV for 2023 P1 intake. -
Dear parents, need some advice here… We are staying in Yishun and within 1km from Northland primary. Given the past balloting history, would you recommend we try our luck in phase 2C? My worry is if we fail, our 2nd choices like Hua Min/Northview (1-2km) will already be taken up fully at 2Cs. My husband is from Yishun Primary but because it is not our first choice so might not want to go for it at phase 2A2. Any thoughts?

the principal at yishun primary is a very thoughtful and warm hearted lady.
I know because my hubby is working in that school. since your hubby is from yishun primary, why not register there under phase 2A2? -

Hi janet88, thanks for your response. Because Yishun Primary is not our top choice and it is much further away from my house. My top choice is Northland primary which is less than 1km but because it is so oversubscribed for the past years, I'm contemplating if we should go ahead and try our luck... The only worry is we fail so dunno if we should 1)go ahead and try Northland 2) just go with yishun primary at phase 2A2angrymama:

the only year Yishun primary faced balloting less than 1km is in 2014. other than that there are vacancies at 2CS.
there was balloting 1-2km for PRs in 2C in the year 2013.
so if you want to try for northland and balloting for less than 1km for SC, you may want to consider yishun primary as backup.

Huamin will be full by 2C, although the Take up in phase 1 is lower, its likely to have a balloting for 1-2km in 2C at best. Northview will be full by 2C.
what will be your backup choice in 2Cs? what if your backup choice within 2C itself if you decided not to take the balloting risk? -
Dear parents
My girl can go to Zhangde at 2A2 but we would like to send her to a better school beyond 2 km from our home
As I have two girls, am considering either St Margaret or CHIJ Kellock under 2C as both have affiliated secondary schools. Between the two schools, which school is better in terms of academics and school culture.
And which affiliated secondary school is a better option ?
My backup school will be Queenstown Pri as it is the nearest.
Between Queenstown Pri and Zhang De, which school is a better choice in terms of academics and overall school culture ?
Thank you.
