      Hi all

Thinking of Alexandra Primary school but within 1-2km under 2C, any advice?

      TIA
Very highly likely that ballot will take place <1km.
      You should consider elsewhere.

Don't forget that some don't have that option though. Eg. teachers who teach in the school & those with siblings who have already graduated... all fall under 2A2 but they don't qualify to be \"Alumni\".

actually the teachers' children should be moved to phase 1...teachers are deployed to the school by MOE. they do not apply to teach in the particular school, as such they should enjoy priority. happy teachers will teach the students well.
if the teachers choose to register their kids in other schools, so be it...but if they are teaching in the school and logistics wise, it makes sense for them to register their kids in the same school.

        I agree! :goodpost:

I agree also, based on logistics rationale.

But…I heard that autonomous primary schools principals have the discretion of choosing their teachers. So for example, a teacher who is an alumnus can ask the principal for a recommendation/special request to MOE to deploy said teacher to the school. So in such a case, the teacher’s kid would leapfrog over the other 2A kids?

Not all Teachers want to enrol their children in the same school as the one they are teaching in, unless that primary school is very good or very hard to get in.

A few of my friends, who are primary school Tr, prefer to enrol their kid in some other primary school instead. Reason being, a few :-

            - that primary school they are teaching in, is not popular. Every year, a lot of vacancies left behind in Phase 3.

            - friends do not like their child being constantly scrutinized at or compared to, in terms of their fellow peer school mates / classmates expecting their child to be amongst Top in the class, just because their mother is a school Teacher, in their school. They rather enrol their child somewhere else

Yep, I agree too. However, I think any proposed changes will spark another national debate about fairness.

Not that there’s a specific right or wrong but everyone is only looking at the areas which favor their own personal situation, eg. alumni, teacher, volunteer, financial ability to move to expensive housing areas, etc.

I didn't think of this...but the principal would probably not allocate the parent to teach the same class as the kid.

                  Nanyang really lucky!

Nanyang : left behind 10 seats, for 2A2

Ai Tong : still leave behind 16 seats, for 2A2

                  NANYANG left 8 seats for 2A2 not 10. 🤷

I think most schools do this and the teachers shouldn't even take the same level - since they may have to set some papers and also do some of the marking.

Henry Park overflow during 2A1, any reason it is so hot this year?

Even though Principal did not allocate the mother to teach the same class as her child : however people will still sometimes gossip about their child in school, and gossip is what my friends want to avoid
