St Margaret's Primary

SMPS is right in the central of Singapore, hence students come from all parts of the island. As such, the new location may a bit off for some. It is hard to find an alternative/available holding site that is as centrally located as its current site.

Teacher who called me, mentioned this plan has been ongoing since 2011. Why didn't SMPS inform parents in advance b4 they enrol into SMPS?
MacPherson Pri shouldn't be the ONLY location available. Its proximity to the red light district (Geylang) also pose a very real concern esp this is an all girls' school. -
Hi!
I am a little shocked to know that the school is moving to MacPerson Primary School, is this a merger? Is the current site going to have renovation? -

Current SMPS site will undergo major reno & upgradings in 2020 & 2021.Hi!

The interim move was due to improving the school facilities and I think they did consider the limited area options they have to hold the school temporarily? The principal should have addressed this properly I do agree or at least announce on school website. I’m registering my daughter for SMPS next year and I only found out last week thru a friend.

This reno/upgrading is definitely a major phase of the school & would have taken some years of planning.
1. Principal Ms Pang is unprofessional by not alerting parents in advance of this intention of moving.
2. Nothing is mentioned during P1 registration or Orientation.
3. Neither is there any announcement during sch terms till last week suddenly.
4. SMPS website also has NO mention of this upcoming move.
If Ms Pang has communicated earlier to parents, we can make a better & informed choice whenever to enrol into SMPS or not.
By not responding to parents' questions in the aftermath, it will only lead more unhappiness. As the leader of SMPS, Ms Pang should address our frustrations and questions directly. NOT instructing her staff & PTA leaders to repeat the memo information like a recorder & tell us to \"understand their situations\" etc.
So then who can understand parents' unhappiness & frustrations? We are left with no option. :whut: -
That is indeed very disappointing and frustrating! I’m quite surprised that even the current students / parents were informed only recently? The school principal should at very least write an email herself to all parents to address why the last minute inform of the upgrades / move.
One can only imagine with a leader like that, what about the teachers under her wing?
How long has Ms Pang been with SMPS? -
Sarah_Mikah:
No, not merger, because Macpherson primary had already merged with Cedar primary : all Macpherson school students go Cedar to study (merge), so Macpherson primary premises are now left vacant, for St Margaret girls to occupy premises temporarily, later on.Hi!

Macpherson school compound is very big, far away from Geylang red light district, so don't worry -
To be fair, when my son’s school announce PERI upgrade, there’s also no prior advance notice to the parents.
And worst, they move P1 and P2 to afternoon session. It is logistic nightmare for those who have no school bus services to depend upon. This process is common for all schools bah. -

For my kids’ previous school. The news/rumours about the school upgrading went around for a couple of years. They were not able to find a suitable site due to the school population or the site that they wanted was already taken by another school. There were never any confirmation regarding the upgrading plans or concrete information given until we received the official notification about 6months before the move. That is indeed very disappointing and frustrating! So this is not unique to SMPS. Too harsh to blame the school totally.
