2018 P1 registration exercise for 2019 intake

I think parents going through phase 2B are facing an agonising wait for the balloting results.
I’m wondering now that the balloting process if fully computerised and done at back end, why is there a need to wait almost a week for the results.
I can understand previously when it was conducted manually at the school as the staff has multiple logistics to prepare for the ballo like ball number assigned to atudent name/number etc etc
Maybe someone can feedback to MOE on this. -

Are you referring to Phase 2B or Phase 3?I think parents going through phase 3B are facing an agonising wait for the balloting results.

Maybe backend they are "doing" something. I hope the computer does not select the "type of" profile of students (certain income gp/educational level of parrnts) that the school wants for it’s bebefit. Anyway the balloting is not transparent, so we just have to have faith in the system.

In fact i feel that for schools that don't need to ballot, why don't they start sending out the SMS already? -

Exactly! Why need so long when everything is already computerised.I think parents going through phase 3B are facing an agonising wait for the balloting results.

When the website to update on schools that require balloting after 2B was still not up by Monday morning, I emailed and called MOE. Maybe exceptionally for this dragon babies registration year, the aftermath of subsequent phases was too overwhelming for the backend to handle?
I can't imagine for 2C how its gonna be. -
I’ve no issue with the backend balloting. And i have no stakes in this year registration (or in later years)… i’m wondering out loud about the process as i see this can be shorted now that its done backend.

There was some mention a few pages back, how some schools are still using physical “books” to check for distance category. And someone else mentioned, she never saw any computers in the registration room. So it seems some schools are not connected to the internet/MOE intranet.
I suppose these admin staff physically count the application forms at the end of the day, and report the total number to MOE. Then MOE updates their website with the total number of applicants.
Subsequently, when these admin staff got time, then they will have to key in the applicants’ distance data to the MOE intranet. Or email the list to MOE. Depends what computer era they are in. Lol.
That’s a possible explanation for all this delay.
Real-time, apparently, is not gonna happen anytime soon. And now, what with the recent hooha about hackers stealing patients’ data from the hospitals/polyclinics, it’s even more likely govt will be extra cautious in using internet connectivity. What if some child’s application data is hacked into and manipulated during the balloting? Big uproar. -
Actually I have a different view. What’s the rush?
It’s not as if you got some other option or something better to do until Phase 2C starts. A couple of days won’t kill. Take it easy.
Unless you intend to know the results early so as to go around “consoling” the poor souls for missing out on the ballot... more days to gloat would be good  -
my guess is this is the first time they are doing the \"computerized balloting\". Maybe they are afraid that there will be a mess up somewhere so they left a bit of buffer time. If really mess up for some reason, they can still secretly roll the ping pong ball at HQ physically
It could be the case that they already finished everything within 24hrs but since they already announce the dates so they can't announce it earlier.
