      Hi need some advice 🙂

my boy is 4 years old and grandparents stay 1.5km from chongfu pri sch we stay at sengkang and considering moving over to stay with grandparents or remain at sengkang.

willing to do PV too. Need advise on how many hours of PV does chongfu pri need now.

Also if i fall under 2B would the distance affect chance of getting in as its within 1-2km.

You are asking for 2019 registration?
Too late to be accepted as PV or as a SHHK member. Therefore, Phase 2B is an impossibility.
Only Phase 2C but that will mean ballot < 1km which your distance will not be eligible.

        i hv 2 choices for 2019 registration.

        1. plmgs (>2km SC)
        2. chij oln (1km SC)
both intending to use my mum address as she will be main caretaker.
What are my chances for phase 2C if i do not do PV for these 2 school?
its tough for me to take time out to do PV.
        thks!

If you use your mom's address, you will fall into 1-2km category. However, both schools are quite safe. CHIJ OLN will be safer as they have more seats for 2C. Now you just need to decide whether you prefer a Catholic school or Methodist school. You can consider the affiliation to secondary school onward.

my consideration is gals school. after which .. affiliation which i wld take consideration. But the distance and convenience for my parent wld also be impt.
CHIJ OLN for my parents and my house is one bus. PLMGS is out of the way if via public transport.

I am thinking of dropping PV for OLN which means i will go phase2C 1to2km SC right? base on past history still looks ok?

          Hi petrinayim,

Firstly, if your boy is only 4 this year, I think you are in the wrong thread haha.

My girl is starting p1 in chongfu next year. For pv in chongfu, need to clock in 80 hours of pv. The school admin will work with you to ensure that you will get to do 80 hours exactly, you wont overclock nor underclock. It is the only SHHK school that you can still pv with the school instead of with SHHK.

I am in the 1-2km range. Distance is not a criteria when they choose pvs. However, I have some pv mummies who stay >2km and they failed the ballot. Historically the balloting for pvs has been for the distance range >2km, hence if you can get into the pv programme, quite likely to get in the school. However, competition for PV slot is very tough. Only 20 pvs were selected from around 100 applications when I joined. Their criteria for choosing pv is not very clear also. Basically they want to achieve diversity of the students' background and hence a lot will depend on the cohort of parents when you apply.

If your boy is 4 this year, I believe you are in time to apply for the pv, which will open from Aug-Oct this year. Go to the school website and download the form. There is no interview required when I joined in 2016.

          Hope this helps.

We are staying in Punggol and these are the choices we have:

                1) Gongshang under 2A1 but worry abt the daily journey
                2) Horizon under 2C (<1km)
                3) Punggol View under 2C (<1km)

                any views on these schools?

There’s no easy way to get from Punggol to Gongshang. Horizon will most definitely ballot < 1km while Punggol View may ballot < 2km (which means you will be spared the ballot).

IMHO None of the school’s above are exceptional that makes one better than the other. There are also plenty of other similar options in Punggol so no reason to fret if you have to ballot or have to choose something else.
