2018 P1 registration exercise for 2019 intake

I asked at HWS today about the breakdown of applicants to distance but they told me they were not allowed to reveal that. When we were registering today there were some parents who were registering that lived 1-2km away or further. Given the ballot history I would have thought the staff would advise them that the chances were slim to non existent. However I am making a lot of assumptions as to which category they might fall in SC or PR and distances.
I guess I just have to :xedfingers:MelOng:
Saw the MOE updates.. couple of schools way over subscribed.. eg. HWS 28 places available for 2C but 114 applucations !!!
Yes it's common tt sch admin won't say.
U got to think of a better / diplomatic way to ask them to reveal the breakdown to u. For the sake of not wasting 2C chance...& avoid 2C supp. -

The school does not have the right to reject the applicant. They probably did advice the parents but wont reject the applicant if they want to register (to try their luck).I asked at HWS today about the breakdown of applicants to distance but they told me they were not allowed to reveal that. Northland is super challenging.
Wondering how many of the applicants actually are 1-2km or further but still trying… -
I’m not familiar with Yishun schools, but why is Northland so popular? They are the most oversubscribed sch in sg?!

I think majority (I guess 80-90%) are SC within 1km. Similar stats last year as well, 90+ balloted for maybe 50 vacancies iirc.I asked at HWS today about the breakdown of applicants to distance but they told me they were not allowed to reveal that. Yes <1km. But now I saw their registration nos. I also scared. Confirm got 160+ rejects from Northland and now only 40 places left at Naval base. If they all 2nd choice at Naval base then also lotto for us. Thursday must take leave again and decide... current Naval base nos. must be a lot of PRs
you also < 1km for Naval Base? last yr, 2CS Naval Base has balloting for SC 1-2km.yishunite:
not much choice, probably Naval Base. others are all 1-2km for us so don't think there will be any spots left for North View unless we withdraw now. our daughter's best friend's parents also confirmed Chongfu is balloting <1km so they are going straight for Naval base.
This is BTO+dragon effect, so many new families just moved into this area in last 3 years even Naval base is as popular as all the others -

Thousands of new families move in the last 2 years thanks to BTO all within 1km of northland but may not be likely to have sibling alrdy in sch.
Even Naval base got big bump but my guess is all the PRs apply there -
No other school within 1km of the new BTOs? That’s really scary.

Day 1 & 2 is not a good indication. Wait for Day 3 to have a good sense of the situation.Rpoon:
omg! A lot of schools are over subscribed just day 2 only.
Don’t wanna see the day 3 results already. Many people will have sleepless nights
Many parents would have registered in Phase 2A1 & 2A2 and are hogging the seats. I think many will give up (withdraw) and apply to a school nearer home, thus freeing some vacancies. but i may be wrong so we shall see.
and looking at the overly subscribed schools, my guess is that a lot will withdraw tomorrow (after seeing the surprise tonight) and re-register at another school within same area. Hopefully tomorrow night's numbers will be more accurate and evenly spread out.
