Many thanks! I have 2 girls and a boy so would prefer co-ed. Girl is first.EastCoastAussie:
Thoughts on Opera Estate Primary School for a PR >2km? 54 registered thus far for 87 places = 32 remaining. Safe to register?
if you have boys, you can consider St. Stephens pri.. they have affiliation to secondary schools; ST JOSEPH'S INSTITUTION and ST PATRICK'S SCHOOL
Else opera estate seems safe for now..good luck! -
skii:
No, I didn’t mix them up.At “half time” today, there were already 29 < 1km.
Did you mixed up the number?floppy:
35 applicants for 23 places.
1 applicant < 1km
1 applicant 1-2km
33 applicants > 2km
Seriously... would anyone out of 1km apply
But I did make them up.
There’s no point in asking the obvious. This is just another one of those schools (SNGS, RSS, CHS, ATS, etc) where the numbers reflect 90% to 99.9% < 1km (maybe 1 or 2 blur sotong). Ah Gong talks about “the hard truth”. This is one of them. Anyone hoping for something else, it ain’t going to happen!
Save yourself the trouble. Just be prepared to ballot < 1km when you apply to one of them. -

If the chances are for PR balloting, all the more a PR shouldn’t join in. Once you missed out, your next alternative in 2Cs is going to be disastrous.
Yup u r right..But if all SC applicants oversubscriped..I wont..
But as of today morning aa per last nite regn..
I heard it is 15seats are PR n rest are SC..
So if got chances for PR balloting thinking to go for it. N see her luck..
as my kid can even go by herself..as juz a pedestrain cross over..
Bearing in mind that PR are after SC, regardless of distance (and there are plenty of SCs that are going to be disappointed from NCPS, RPS, CPS, etc) you may not have a viable or choice that you like / want in 2CS.
Let the others go fight it out, while you secure a slot without worrying about the worst case scenario. -
To all peeps involve in 2C balloting or not . 1 last day to go. Hope that everyone makes a wise choice. Jia you !!
-
Agreed. Assuming the info is correct, which means 15 balloting for 4 slot… You just need 2-3 mickey mouse sc to pull out from ncps to springdale and your chance will b much lower… All the best, check the stats closely and don’t waste your 2c chance

Opera Estate safe for PR. For girls in the east, you may want to consider CHIJ Katong and for boys, St Stephen’s. Both are safe for PR and have secondary affiliation. -
Thank you. :)
I assumed u are referring to Tanjong Katong Primary? If yes, then for the 2019 cohort, P1 and P2 will continue to be in the afternoon session.
Mon, Tue, Thu & Fri: 1230pm - 630pm
Wed: 2pm - 630pm
As for academic requirements, I'm not too sure what u are referring to? IMO, basic reading, writing and numeracy skills, including writing their English and Chinese names (if u are a Chinese) should suffice for now. Hope this helps.
Hi.
How is P1 academic ( like their homework or teachers requirement for p1)?
So when they move back to katong in yr 2020 P1 & P2 lessons will resume to morning session?
If your child in TKPS? If yes, can share with me how is it during child learning journey? Thank you.
I don't have a child there. We went for their open house this year (end of May) and had a pretty good impression overall. According to the principal, they are trying to convert to single (morning) session after 2020 but they can't confirm until they have moved back to the original site. The academic aspect of the school seems to be well-rounded or holistic, and encompasses a significant amount of drama/performance even for lower primary. They had a few groups from the P1 and P2 classes performed story-telling in English for us during the open house. We spoke to a few of the current P1 English teachers who seemed young and enthusiastic, and were advocates of parent-teacher partnerships. The student leaders present that day were also very knowledgeable, well spoken and carried themselves very well I would say for regular 10-11 year olds. So I believe your child will be in good hands in this school. We aren't registering with them mainly because the school will be too far a commute for my child after they return to Seraya Road. The holding site right now is ideal for us but unfortunately only for the 1st year.
Thanks for sharing even though your child is not attending the school. I appreaciate it.
