If you were to consider the below 3 Schools which one is better?


Bendeemer Primary
Farrer park Primary
Stamford Primary

Farrer Park
Stamford
Bendemeer

Why don't you look at the school's achievements and CCAs? It's important because some schools don't support/participate in certain national level competitions or offer certain DSA-useful activities. 'Useful' as in for your kid. Could otherwise be useful to other pupils who have an interest/talent/aptitude in that school's fixed menu of CCAs/competitions.

E.g. Farrer is strong in Dance and has been getting Distinction in SYF. The rest are Accomplishment. So if your kid cannot dance, then...

If u are within 1km from ftps, consider trying your luck for mcs? Just my 2 cents worth as ftps most likely will still have seats in phase 3?

Am left with no cherries to pick! GYPS under 1-2km radar, FTPPS, <1km. Now I just have to teach my child to be prudent, err, sensible, hmm, no monkey business, mind your manners... force myself in PV then equipped myself with a light-up fly-swat that goes 'zappp' when a fly is caught and flick all the flies away. And try to fall in love with whatever the school dish out!!! Then tell the kids with problems to come to Auntie AGONY to solve problems rather than asking your peers. Auntie says they can't help much at this stage, wait till they grow older.
The only song I have in mind for past 3 days is nothing about National Day but Welcome to the Jungle.

Oasis - brand new school, brand new facilities.
Current students get to mould its identity and from what I've seen of several new schools, the new schools' leaders are very \"on\" and hands-on.

In terms of take-up rate so far:
Greendale - 126/320 i.e. 39.3%
Edgefield - 178/280 i.e. 63.6%
Oasis - 220/320 i.e. 68.8%
As a new school, there has to be a reason for it's popularity relative to the other two :evil:

I am new to this forum.
I was unsuccessful in phase 2C and is now awaiting Phase 2c Sup. I must say it was the most disappointing and terrible feeling. I was lost for the next 2 days but am now slowly getting over it and reorganizing my thoughts.
Anyone going through the same experience and residing in Jurong?

Thanks for your advice. I also see the Farrer Park is surrounded by Condos while Bendeemer is surrounded by HDB. Bendeemer has a higher up rate might be due to Hong Wen only takes in chinese.

Regarding Farrer Park Primary...it has a very good drama arts department. Watched a play performed by their students at SOTA theatre before.


BUT the famous sports field (including the swimming pool & tennis courts) next door will be undergoing very major construction for future residential buildings. Initially I was considering buying a permanent place near Cambridge Road/Dorset Road area because I like the quiet area there. Relatively affordable too. But when the news broke, immediately had to scrap my plans and look elsewhere. Will likely be noisy for the next several years after the slated mid-2020 handover of the sports fields. And will be more crowded with new families too (if more HDB flats are planned).

We only have direct bus to Townsville. Is the school ok?

Sis brenda, go for greendale, will be safer....it have been improved in the sch over the years. Ignore those rumours flying around.

Greendale is having upgrading to cater to the new MOE kindergarten... noise may be an issue for first few years..

We briefly drove by both schools to see as much as we could and we found the Farrer Park premises newer and more spacious. But it's true that there's construction work taking place around that area. We also considered the CCAs listed on both school websites and noticed that Bendeemer offers very few CCAs, while Farrer Park seems to have a more holistic approach. We didn't have much insight on academic performance nor attitudes of the teachers.

Also, on a personal level, DH's best friend is an old Bendeemer boy and he refused to send his children there. He personally feels it's not a great school so he put himself through the Phase 2C anxiety instead of going the easy way of alumni just to place his daughter elsewhere.

These may just be very superficial reasons for us having a preference for Farrer Park over Bendeemer even though the latter is much closer to our home...

If you only have direct bus to Townsville, it would be the one that makes the most sense for you to apply to. Go for it.
