Competition is indeed very stiff based on last year’s experience. We saw many hopefuls who DSA Theo talents as well as academic, but failed.

We have a case of one of top tennis player, wooed by sec sch but advised not to try IP track based on Pri results but encouraged to try DSA Express route. Then ano ‘good’ golfer who failed to DSA even tho a bright chap, whereas a better golfer fr neigbourhood school clinch the only DSA place under golf category.

We hv 2 examples of both a GEPper & one who gets all four subjs awards yearly since P3 and overall student award, yet both did not get a CO via Academic.

It won’t get easier when MOE centralize DSA process. After August, hopefully parents can share more of their successes of failure & my guess is we’ll see DSA as a route more to secure places for talents who can manage studies, whilst those with no talents will need to use T-Score thro S1 Posting. JMO.

Actually, I don't think that comes into the DSA consideration at all. Schools now have limited slots to take in talents via DSA and we can see the competition is high from the DSA threads. I may be wrong but I really doubt the secondary school trials and interviews will scan for weaker students from their affiliate primary schools to give them the slots to \"save\" them.

Perhaps you were thinking of those few top IP schools (with pri affiliates) that are very competitive and understandably they won't be that 'charitable' and will be highly selective so as to maintain the high standard of their respective OP/IP schools. However, I was thinking of the lower rung ones on zac's mum's list of 27 schools. Now that MOE has set 20% for Express, 20% for N(A), 20% for N(T), I'm sure the less sought after affiliated secondary schools may take in more of their sportsmen from the junior section. E.g. St Andrew's has the liberty to take in its entire rugby junior team (some for Express, some for Normal stream); or Ngee Ann Secondary can take in most of NAPS' soccer team players, if it so chooses. 😂

Regardless of where it is ranked, the concept still stands, right?

It would indeed be very charitable of a school to offer DSA slots to its affiliated primary school students instead of stronger external applicants. After all, the school risks having a weaker team than they could have if they had selected a stronger candidate.

However, if you meant that there are more than enough available slots (less demand due to lower popularity) and they can offer all the affiliated sports people DSA slots into the secondary school, then yep, maybe that's true since supply exceeds demand - I had not considered that point.

for T-score : the higher, the better

But, from 2021 onwards, the lower the Total AL score, the better
The lowest is : 4 AL points (for 4 subjects)

What is SCGS new affliation Cut-off, under 2021 AL Psle roll-out ?

is it around 12 AL points ?

They are not affiliated. Because MOE and Straits Times said so lor.

Maybe you should pose the question to SHHK why *none* of their primary schools have affiliation to secondary. Maybe they missed the boat to fight for this right.
