      JaredKoh:
I am an undergrad in a local university (NUS).

I have gone for 2 internships and will be going for my next one with an MNC (General Electric) starting next month (December).

I have to be honest here: the search will be hard and the competition will be intense if you intend to go for MNC.
The main reason is because MNCs have to account to shareholders and so will be VERY selective in choosing their candidates.

Academic grades are a good start but MNCs look for a lot more than just grades. I'm saying this because I'm not exactly the 'top performer' in uni (I'm one tier below the top), but really it's a lot about what you can offer the company (which has to be really special and niche for MNCs to want you) and how much you're willing to learn (because the opportunities they offer is potentially endless).

Then again, even in the search process, especially at the start, I think the key is to have fun and accumulate experience - in terms of interview skills, academic knowledge in school and the ability to engage in deep discussions on real-world issues 🙂
      :goodpost: :thankyou:

If anyone wants to do an internship abroad, I will suggest that St. Thomas University. St. Thomas University is a famous university in the USA. These provide quality education with an internship.

When I was in NUS business i did a couple of internships. So perhaps I could offer some advice.

                    1. Ensure that the company is one you want to carve a niche in
i.e. if you are someone looking to enter the automobile industry, it would make sense to start with smaller companies and then apply for bigger companies but all internships should be in the automobile industry. If you have a varied resume it would not be as strong as someone with a focused resume.
Or if intending to do a data analysis role, ensure that you have experience in various companies with data analysis.

                    2. Have the end goal in sight and work towards it
i.e. If you want to end up in an MNC for your first job, make sure you have a substantial resume when it comes to eventually applying. If you have only worked in startups, some companies may be quite picky as they look at brand name internships instead. It truly depends on the company and what they focus on. I know some companies focus purely on grades i.e. most finance firms require a first class. So know the requirements before applying.

                    3. Do a large amount of research
If you have found a company, check with peers/ seniors/ friends who know the company and then make sure you understand the company culture + prep for questions when you are eventually going for the interview.

Hope this helps anyone struggling! I’ve been in that position before and hope what i’ve shared helps!

Hi, not an internship per se but offering interested candidates the opportunity to be part of a research project that looks at the future of work in the age of disruptive artificial intelligence(yes, it upon us faster than you think) and human skills needed to thrive in the next 20years.

If you are a JC1 or JC2 student with some spare time on your hands and keen to contribute to this research, do reach out for a private discussion. Candidates will be compensated for your time of course.

Many of the larger companies have structured internship programs, and if one does well in them, he/she is fast-tracked into their coveted Management Associate programs upon graduation
