When will moe announce which school need to ballot at what distance? Tomorrow?

Yes. Tomorrow by 12 noon or so.

If you really die die want to know for peace of mind today, try calling the school now. Hopefully they haven’t leave office yet.

        twinkle1010:

Extra one seat ONLY if the last ballot goes to a kid with a twin. If a kid with a twin gets an earlier ballot, 2 seats are taken up immediately - then no extra seat is allocated.
Mathematically, you are right but that’s not how it works (at least in the past before centralized / computerized balloting takes place).

Assuming 31 applicants (including a pair of twins) ballot for 30 places.

Since twins are indivisible, there will only be 30 ping pong balls drawing for 30 places (which is kinda ridiculous). If the twins get picked, one ball is disappointed. If the twin gets picked last, no one gets disappointed. Hence, most schools just do away with the ballot and accept all in such a scenario to avoid a ridiculous situation (where 29 balls will pray for the twins’ ball to be drawn last).

Ok Folks, 2Cs over, lets cool it off. I am sure everyone wants the best for their kids, keep that spirit and go on doing so.

Time to hibernate. See you guys (or next batch of folks) next year.

            I guessed too. Cheers.

            42 =
            21 for 2b and
            21 for 2c

If odd numbers, I asked moe before, the extra one goes to 2c.

            vivi_vivi:
oh yep.. you are right. Cos i was refering to 42 seats left over for Phase 2B (and 2C). Thanks for clarifying here!

I recall quite clearly that if odd number, then extra goes to 2B. Unfair for members of the public. That’s why I remember very well.

I never really watch out for this anomaly this year,

But the moe officer, whom I spoke to over the helpline, told me when i asked causally.

To be precise, the odd number goes to the next phase… which is err… Phase 2B.

Yes it goes to 2B. Example after 2A2, left over with 55 seats.

                    28 goes to 2B, 27 goes to 2C.

                        1. Results of school going for balloting (i.e. over subscribed) today around 8pm on MOE website.

                        2. Announcement will be tomorrow for balloting in which category around 12pm (but will not provide the breakdown). In phase 2c, accouncement was published at 2pm.

                        3. Balloting and results will be on 21 August around 8am.
