      Orb:
CHIJ Katong left with 9 vacancies but balloting for more than 2km...

Cannosa Catholic no balloting for SC and PR!

      This is indeed weird.
Brand name matters... even at Phase 2CS.

They could decide to take the additional seats given its not too big a number. But its really case by case basis & there is no hard & fast rule too 🙂 whether it is principal sch board or anyones decision we won’t know too

            Montfort Jr has 39 seats - 5 (1km) 23 (1-2km) 13 (2km)

Over by 2 but Admin said all are in which means additional 2 seats 🙂 the sch has never been oversubscribed in any phase before 🙂

            good luck to all parents

            Montfort ballots!

Asking those veterans here if they know or can figure out why...

I noticed a strange phenomenon this year when I was tallying the vacancies for 2C(S). I’ve never done so in previous years, so dunno if it’s a new thing or not.

At the start of 2C(S), MOE released the number of vacancies per school. I recorded the numbers in Excel so that I could sort the schools in descending order of vacancies.

But at the close of 2C(S), when MOE released the total number of applicants per school for that phase, I noticed that several schools suddenly had 1 or 2 more vacancies.

What could have happened here? I wouldn’t expect people to withdraw after securing 2C spot! Could it be admin error? As in, the admin clerk calculated wrongly at the start of the phase? Or do u think some applications were voided due to invalid documents/addresses that were not verified properly?

                Just thinking aloud.

You know I also heard that the schools can’t be 100% full. There is a few vancancies left for emergencies, or case by case reviews. Is it true?

If the school’s say they are 100% full, ie no space left after 2CS, it means just that. They are 100% full.

For emergencies or medical cases, it is evaluated on a case-by-case and can go above and beyond the 100% limit at MOE discretion.

Hard to say. There could really be people who change their mind. In some cases, there could be people moving their family overseas due work / migrating / PR returning home etc. Unless the numbers are significant, I would guess it’s ‘normal’.
